Description Pokemon by Nintendo, GAME FREAK & Satoshi Tajiri
First Appearance: Pokemon Red/Blue Version (Game Boy 1996)

Seiyu: Yuji Ueda ; Tomokazu Sugita
Voice: Eric Stuart ; Bill Rogers ; Johnny Yong Bosch ; Jerry Pakalinski / xJerry64x (Elite 3)

The Leader of the Pewter City Gym, Brock specializes in Rock type Pokemon. Known for his rock-solid willpower and determination, Brock takes his job very seriously, and others look up to him as a result. For defeating him in battle, Brock rewards trainers with a Boulder Badge. In the anime series, Brock travels with Ash on his journey from Kanto to Sinnoh with the goal of becoming a Pokemon Breeder. His ability to tend to and cook for Pokemon stems from his own home life of caring for his many siblings. He's also comically lovesick, falling for any girl he meets, only to get pulled away by Misty, Max and his own Croagunk.

Eric Stuart was a perfect fit for Brock with both his voice and acting being top notch!

Johnny Yong Bosch had a pretty good voice for him, but was pretty bland and forgettable in his acting and delivery as Brock, and Bill Rogers was plain awful in the role sounding like someone's grandpa shouting "Git off mah lawn" in a constipated voice as opposed to a teenager.

I have to disagree with you on Johnny Yong Bosch. Johnny gives a good performance on just about anything he's featured in, and nothing about him screams bland or forgettable.

Like I said before, Johnny did a good job, but Eric Stuart's acting was a lot better as was his delivery: Johnny is more like Eric in Episode 5, so to speak.

Well, considering the tone of Pokemon Origins, the characters do gotta be more down to earth, and the voice acting roles fit the atmosphere. I think of it as comparing the different styles of Origins and the main show, and they're very different variations, that of Brock and Professor Oak.

The thing is, Eric Stuart was perfectly capable of sounding down to Earth and he can do it just as good as Johnny can, if not better. I mean:

I have no qualms with Johnny's take (unlike Bill's), but it's just that Eric is the best fit for Brock, IMO.

For me, Johnny shines as Ichigo, so to speak.

As for Professor Oak, what I said for Eric Stuart applies to Stuart Zagnit in comparison to Kyle, too. Check this out:

Again, I have no issues with Kyle's take (unlike Carter's), but again Stuart is the best fit for Prof. Oak, IMO.

That is true. They were able to make it pull at your heartstrings when it mattered, both in terms of performance and writing. If there's thing I can give you credit for, it's that the TCPi dub has less of that, but to be fair, the modern episodes in general are much more formulaic and Saturday morning cartoon quality in general. Not the fault of the dub, they were just designed that way in Japan.

Off topic, my favorite role by Johnny might be Izaya from Durarara, or any of the bad guys he's played. We don't get to hear him be evil or persnickety all that often.

Yes, I agree the modern episodes in general are lower in quality than the older ones, and I don't fault TPCi for that- that's TPC JPN's fault.

I've never heard that, so I can't comment, but Johnny is usually good in most of what he does.

His initial take on Vash from Trigun sounded a little off, but to be fair, that was literally his first role, and one of his most beloved.

Johnny is a great VA in general, so I agree.

Except for croagunk he usually did a a poison jab (I think it was called by then) at brock for getting romantically involved into girl(s) cause i find it both in a pwnage and funny way at the same time that's just me.

Eric Stuart is hands-down better than Bill Rogers.

Brock the Rock! Anyway I think Eric Stewart did a better job than the guy who voices him now, but the other guy did do a fairly decent job. I agree with KKtheProphet about Brock and Kakashi being similar.

Yea.

Believe me, Pokemon was much better in the first few Generations, back when Veronica Taylor, Eric Stuart, Rachel Lillis, and such were doing the voices. I like to think of Dinosaur King as a "where they went from here" of sorts. But the revived new seasons of Slayers (where Eric plays Gourry) were also just fantastic.

Mmm-hmm. Did you hear of the new Pokemon games Japan is making? They both sound really stupid.

Black & White, you mean? It does sound pretty odd, especially since they can still come up with new ideas. I bet they'll still be successful, nonetheless.

Brock's one of the best characters in the series just because of his lecherous ways. On a side note, Dawn never pulls him away from girls. That is Croagunk's job.

I think Brock was the best, too. He was to Pokemon what Sanji is to One Piece.

And as for the Dawn thing, I'll fix that in a bit. Every profile has at least one typo, y'know. XD

He kinda reminds me of Kakashi from "Naruto". Both can be perverted at times, but they can be serious when they need to be. Plus they usually teach things to the main characters Ash and Naruto.

I should make a "Naruto/PokΓ©mon" character comparison chart or something like that. The characters of both series have so many similarities.

Not to mention, there's a certain facial feature you never see in them.

I did kinda compare several characters between Naruto and Sonic in my famous fanfiction.

I've actually got a "Naruto/PokΓ©mon" fanfic going. Its titled 'Two Lavender Princesses' and the two main pairings are Naruto x Hinata and Sato (Ash) x Lila (Anabel).
