Alph is an explorer from the planet Koppai who, along with his comrades Charlie and Brittany, traverses to the planet PNF-404 in search of food to save their home world from starvation. Not only that, but when their ship, the S.S. Drake crash lands on the planet, they must also find their Cosmic Drive Key to repair the ship. While exploring the various locations of the planet, they ally with the indigenous Pikmin species to solve puzzles and retrieve fruit, preserving the seeds to grow on Koppai and drinking the juice to maintain their own survival. While there, they also discover data logs left by Olimar and Louie, implying they hold the Key. What could have happened to them?

It's disappointing that Alph is still an alternate costume. At least Smash 4's reason was kinda understandable due to lack of time but Ultimate? PERFECT OPPORTUNITY. Plenty of time, proper introduction to Echoes, spend a few hours fine tuning him and using Rock Pikmin and boom, some fans are satisfied and Pikmin has another proper representation.
But whatever.
