sooo.... THIS guy. this guy.i've been wanting to tackle the big daddy plush for awhile, but i knew he wouldn't so muchΒ be a plush as a plush wearing a costume. i wasn't sure how to go about making the armor, and how to flatten the head to maintain the same style i've used with the rest of my stuff. (all my plushies are flat!) i went through SEVERAL versions of the head before settling on a simple style.
i sealed craft foam with 3 layers of mod podge before painting it various shades of copper and dry brushing with black. i used beads and brads for rivets and had a DEVIL of a time trying to (purposely) make things uneven or damaged looking. the copper wire is thick floral wire.
the back looks a lot like the front, although i do have two small tanks that i'm attaching. i wanted to take the photo flat against the wall (like all my others), so i took this pre-tank-attaching.
p.s i know blood on the drill would make it a little more authentic, but i just couldn't do it after i spent all that time on it. D:

You say that it's mostly a plush wearing armor, which parts are plush and which bits are armor?
Did you just do a gray plush base and put all of the craft foam armor over it?
I'm freaking out, it's like a baby Big Daddy. It looks like its in a cute copper onesie. FABULOUS.

It's a dirty green military type fabric for his base body, and then all of the "onesie" (ha! so cute!) is painted and dry-brushed craft foam. His drill took FOREVER, I'm super proud of it though. I started playing Burial at Sea pt. 2 last nigh and I sat him next to me, going "Awww!" whenever I looked over at him. ;3

I was in a slump the other day, stuck between doing things that really needed to be done but too daunted by the idea of doing them to actually start.
UGH. Workload. But to cheer myself up I looked through your gallery again and smiled at everything. I haven't done anything arty lately, but
I was considering making my own plush because I so often think of yours and go 'I want to hug that'. I've made some scribbles, but other than
'I want one' I'm not sure which character to go with or how big I want to make it, etc.
Of course this all has to happen once I'm done with work >.>

Your message has made me SUPER happy, knowing that it could make you smile! I've been in a bit of a slump myself for awhile, creatively. I've got a plush probably halfway completed, but I finally had to just put the supplies away - I'm just not feeling motivated. Looking at the half finished product was bumming me out.
Hopefully soon I'll be able to kick this crappy mood and get back to making things! Haven't done a ME plushie in awhile....
