The background is actually my front yard through a window (the tag is dangling from lamp in front of it). And though the blur was supposed to create a sort of soft feel, I agree that it should be more in focus.

I like the blurry background and the light shining on the string holding the card/dangling thingy.
Your handwriting looks quite nice, big, readable and friendly.
Unfortunately, one side of the card and thereby the words there are a bit blurry as well; I don't know if this was intentional, but as a little advise, the picture might be more overall visually pleasing if the blur wasn't.
On the plus side, the overall light in this is very good.
The round shape you used looks very harmonic.

I'll keep your advice about the blur in mind. I actually shot this with a telescopic lens (too lazy to find my other, haha), so the haze is partly due to the fact that I had to put a large distance between myself and the tag. When I reviewed the shot, I found that I kind of liked the blurriness and the soft feel it gave, though I recognize that some more clarity would be nice. It's nice to hear another's input on that.
