A fan art tribute to one of my favorite TV shows, "Rescue Me". My original plan was to have a total of seven characters painted for this piece. However, after taking over 40 hours to get this far, I am going to scrap the idea of painting the remaining four. I'm very satisfied with how it turned out with just these three and I want to focus on some other projects that I'm working on.

That's awesome, the blond woman on the right is the best. The woman on the left has a cool facial expression and I really like the jacket the man is wearing! Nice colors, well done!

Holy crap friend, this is insanely good. Please don't think this crass but... do you use photo ref in a seperate window? Or paint on the image? This is sick good either way.

If I am using a reference photo, I keep it in a seperate window. In my opinion, painting over an image doesn't require much work and I put at the same level as tracing. Since I think my digital portraits are on the realistic side, I always make changes from my reference pictures so that I'm not just making a copy of a picture. If you compare the reference pics to this painting, you should see that Dennis Leary's (Tommy) hair is completely different, some of Callie's (Sheila) jewelry is different or missing, and Andrea's (Janet) expression is different because I didn't want her smiling in this painting.
I've been waiting a long while for someone to ask me how I do my paintings so I hope I didn't lose you during my brief explanation
