Description This is my Sleipnir tattoo.

Sleipnir is the Eight leged horse of Odin, but more important, he represents the final shamantic path, when Odin hanged him self in yggdrasil and pierce his body with is own spear, he got the knowledge of the runes and pass to the other side, in his Horse called sleipnir, and the valkyries welcomed him, The Horse is the fastest Horse of the Gods and represents the static travels of shamans to the other world, beyond the stars and everything we can imagine.
And many who die, they will ride on horse back till they get to glosheimr and then, The Halls of Valhalla, my Horse Wolknir already awaits me there

Sleipnir is the son of Loki with Svadilfari ( A giant gray Horse )

One day, while Thor was far in the North killing Giants, an other giant disguised as a mason, wanted to rebuild a part of the wall in the kingdom of Asgard, the gods agreed because the wall was old and falling apart, in return, the gods would give Freya to the manson, whom they didnt know he was a giant! He asked for Svadilfari to help him carry the stones to make the wall, when the wall was almost finished, Loki disguised him self as a beautiful mare and seduced the Horse, the giant got so mad at it, that destoyed the wall in anger, The gods saw that he was a Frost Giant and Thor returned and killed him, After some months, Loki as a mare, gave birth to Sleipnir.

Hope you like it

Hi , do u have any good soucrces or books that contain images of tattoos of the old norn en vikings ? i want to get a tattoo but i want a original one that is based on the history en real symbols etc not the fiction once u see allot.

VikingWidunder In reply to Wolfboynl [2013-03-12 23:10:01 +0000 UTC]

Well that is indeed very hard to find, there aren't that many art works with the Norns, you might want to make the image yourself inside your head and try to explain it to the person that can tattoo it on you. Or ask a friend to draw it or paint it for you so you can show the work. The Norns like all the other gods, are very important, but original figures or artwork of them is so difficult to find :/

Ty for the reply , its indeed hard to find , i think im just gonna get some insperation of the art work the crafted in ships etc. en then use the symbols like the valknut.

VikingWidunder In reply to Wolfboynl [2013-03-14 00:46:41 +0000 UTC]

You can always think of the Valknut in a bigger knotwork that goes till it makes a circle in the end, since the works of the norns is the making of the wyrd, the fate of each person, however, the work is never finished, it hasn't an end.

It's a very beautiful tattoo.
When you have done it? It is not faded a lot, and the design is still very definite

Wow. I know Loki was/is tricky (and I love that ambiguous nature of his) but I didn't know he was a shapeshifter - and gender-shifter as well Now I like him even more!
Thank you for the story.

Have you heard this little bit? One of the theories on why is Loki so unpredictable in legend is that the fjords where he was revered were fairly isolated. Then the communication improved and all the versions blended together, creating the Loki we know now. I like that interpretation.

Lawenta In reply to VikingWidunder [2010-11-01 19:37:56 +0000 UTC]

A few I'm quite unsure of I don't even know if they're widely known or unknown...
Is it true that according to the legends, Loki is supposed to make his final choice between the giants and the gods at the very end, thus either condemning or saving the world?

I think the rest of what I remember is pretty common

VikingWidunder In reply to Lawenta [2010-11-01 19:46:37 +0000 UTC]

Yes i think it is true, but at least his sons will make a huge diference in the end... for worse ofcourse :s

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but did Loki ever lived as a woman for ten years and had many children with many men?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

VikingWidunder In reply to AntaresDrake [2010-09-24 11:02:49 +0000 UTC]

I dont know about that, but he was a Shapeshifter, and he had the magic to transform others as well, he did transform him self into a Mare and gave birth to the Hourse Sleipnir. He did transform the God Thor into a Woman, Sif ( thor's wife ) , so that Thor could get his Hammer back from the Giant Thrym. I know Loki had many sons, and many were horrible beasts. Just 2 of them looked more like in human form... well.. the Goddess Hel is half Humano form and half rotten o.o

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AntaresDrake In reply to VikingWidunder [2010-09-24 22:11:44 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, I remember the story in which he transformed Idunn into an acorn and carried her between his claws as a hawk (I have trouble remembering the rest).

He turned Thor into a woman?! I remember reading instead that Thor disguissed himself as one (with rocks as fake breasts XD).

Hel is a devilwoman (she was a horrible freaky beasts in the videogame Viking: Battle for Asgard). And Hel would be like this in dragon form (which is quite fitting since both are Goddesses of pain, death and suffering):[link]

Loki could have fathered the minotaur. I mean, the fucking thing fed on human flesh!!!!
