Description the seserasinus jaculum live relatively solitary lives, floating about the atmosphere feeding on air born invertebrates and larva. Medium sized males out number the colossal females exponentially. This causes a massive switch in males during the mating season, causing them to become quite aggressive towards one another, so aggressive at times that cannibalism amongst males have been recorded. a female can become impregnated by multiple males throughout the mating season but males will actively protect their massive mates regardless. two oval sucker-like organs flank each side of its head. These are used to suction on canyon walls. females rarely roost, most of their lives are spent airborne, it is speculates that a female that roosts is close to death, as even the dispersal of eggs is done in the air.

You have a mind like mine excpet yours surpasses mine. One day when I improve my art skills maybe I'll try to share them with you. I've always been a sci fi junkie,  especially when it comes to creatures!

thanks! I'm sure you have some great ideas as well. I wouldn't wait until you improve your skills. start drawing, sketching doodling them now. Over time your skill will improve, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Beautiful spec biology! Can you please define "medium sized" and "colossal"?

Vincent-Covielloart In reply to SchweinGoth [2013-01-17 21:22:36 +0000 UTC]

thanks! a female can grow exponentially, if left unharmed, but most reach the size of a blue whale before succumbing to disease, predation or death. This particular female is a rarity, one of the largest around. Most females wont reach her size, she was just "lucky" enough to have enough food to continue her growth. a male reaches 6ft.

How do you create the textures on the creature?

I think with this one I used a honeycomb style brush that I then modified to get other shapes.

How do you make something like this? I've been trying to turn my sketches into something like this, but can't do it, can you give me some help. Id like to learn...

Vincent-Covielloart In reply to Stargazer808 [2012-09-15 16:07:03 +0000 UTC]

hmmm. I think its all about having an interesting composition. I know one of my problems when coming up with an illustration, as opposed to a diagram drawing, is that I ALWAYS draw a profile of the creature, to show the whole body. But that isnt always the most interesting image, clear but not as enticing. I would try to play around the view point of your critter/characters. as for the rendering, I'm not the best at it, so im not sure if im the right person to learn from :/ BUT there are PLENTY of tutorials out there, even on DA. I hope that answers your question!

a female can grow exponentially, if left unharmed and or plagued with disease, but most reach the size of a blue whale

Very very cool. I must ask how do such large creatures get airborne. I have a few guesses tell me if any of these are true if you don't mind.
1. Smaller world then Earth aka Lesser Gravity
2. Larger world then Earth aka Thicker Atmosphere
3. These creatures have significantly lower body density
4. Any mix of the above. Please state mix.

Please do more of these man, they are amazing.

Rodlox In reply to Brony4 [2012-08-03 02:55:48 +0000 UTC]

just a thought...maybe the airborne issue is one of these ways (these are just my guesses)
a) they're born already able to float.
b) they're born, then cling to the males until they get to a cliff to cling to until they're big enough to float.
c) they're born, then cling to a male until they're able to float on their own.

Brony4 In reply to Rodlox [2012-08-03 03:03:03 +0000 UTC]

This would explain how they get into the air. But, not the biological why.

Mechatherium In reply to Brony4 [2012-07-29 05:35:57 +0000 UTC]

I'm thinking, buoyancy due to massive amounts of light gas.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Vincent-Covielloart In reply to Brony4 [2012-07-26 18:22:25 +0000 UTC]

its a mixture of everything you've stated. They get airborne through propulsion. there is a "vent" on its midsection that propel them into the atmosphere.

thanks I appreciate it! i'll keep them going
