But well god why do people do this , i understand getting an inspiration but ,stealing a art and altering it to look differently (many times worse not just different)
aaah...xDD those people instead of just sitting down and starting drawing , improving, year by year, by themselves ...they just throw away that amazing and soul fullfiling process to the trash can ,and steal what is not theirs -.-" and the worst part is ...whan they go ahead and use money of your stolen art -.- just sick !!!

LMAO! I hope they know that if they really needed the practice they could have just asked your permission -- I doubt you would have not let them use your work so they could learn to use Paint. But attempting to use your work as their own like that? ....Woooow. HAH!

Oh yes, I have no problem with that. I'm actually really fine if people use my art for their own, personal creations. Like decoupage, bookmarks, tattoos, learning how to paint or whatever. As long as nobody sells it as his or publishes as their own creation, altered or not, or without credit, I really don't care. I'm actually very happy whenever I find my works used for such personal projects, I even had one girl do an actual woven kilim out of one of my geisha pieces and it was purely amazing!

Wow. That's pretty pathetic. If you're gonna steal something and make it your own, at least have the decency to try to do better than the person you stole it from! Jeez! But then again, people who steal art are already so insecure that they think they have no ideas, and have to steal others'. I get insecure sometimes, but damn! At least it drives me to do better, and to come up with my own stuff! I've done some fan art, and found other people who did the same painting from the same photo, some better than me, some worse than me, and it has inspired me to use photos only for reference, not to try and copy the whole thing.

Exactly! And me too, I'm very often insecure of my own skills, I see lots of my mistakes. But it doesn't mean I take somebody else's piece, put a filter on it, paste a face, and write it's my own. That's just weird thinking.

I highly doubt anything else on that account was actually her work..if "she" was even a "she". People are strange & I'll never understand why they do the things they do. I wish they'd act like they have sense though. :/
At least it worked out in this case. My friend found out that someone in another country used one of her modeling photos for a book, without her permission or the photographers. They aren't sure if there's anything they can do about it since it's in another country & I haven't heard anything else about it. :/

unbelievable. Some people have no pride. I hope they realize, and soon, that art means so much more when created by one's self. Copies are nice for learning, but not for taking credit. Even if the art that I create is crap, it's still better than taking someone else's and claiming it for my own.

True words. And practice really makes it better. I honestly saw so many people, myself included, growing on DA. My first pieces, 7 years back or so, were really crappy. There is a progress in everyone's case, it just takes time, not using other people's work as our own..
