It seems to me that this model is too "waxy"... But overall, the picture is impressive and beautiful. Bravo!

Oh. My. God. Seriously. This is absolutely INCREDIBLE! Did you go to school for photography? If so, where!?

WOW! So how have you mastered your trade? I'm extremely curious as to what you've done to perfect your work! Internships? Just plain hands-on learning? I'm looking at going to Brooks Institute in California, one of the most respected photography schools in the nation, but there are so many things which I'm unsure of :/

I don't think I've ANYWHERE near mastered it! I shoot as much as I possibly can, and have taken a couple workshops from photographers I admire.

Well I think you've gotten pretty gosh darned close! Seriously, this piece is SO inspirational! I'm curious, too, as to how you come up with your themes! Do you pick a theme, and observe the world around you and try to make crazy connections? Like the hair being the Kraken (probably spelled that wrong ^_^) I'm just trying to figure out how I can make my work stand out, it just seems so hard to be "different" than everyone else :/ I guess having a crew helps tremendously, too...I wish I could have time to do study with professionals =/

I'm inspired by things around me, how someone looks, a garment, a mood, other images. This one in particular was from a painting I'd seen, and was brought to life by an incredibly talented hair stylist I know! Focus less on trying to be different, and just try to create work that speaks to you. Everything original has been done before, the only thing that makes it unique is you! But yes working with a talented team makes all the difference in the world!

It's great that you can be so in-tune with the world! It's a rare talent that is easily overlooked, and one that should be the heart of every art piece. I try not to get too concerned with "standing out" but I guess what I mean is to make my work my own without having too many "influences" from other artists obviously part of it. I don't know if that makes any sense, but to illustrate, how many times have you seen a photo of ________ being shot at a ________ angle? haha, fill those blanks with some of the most clichΓ© photographs, and that's what i'm trying to avoid. I'm trying to think of brand new ways to capture my imagination and the world around me, but it seems so difficult D: I guess I just have to stay in-tune with my surroundings...like I just thought of maybe doing a shoot with a flower pot on someone's head, and their hair coming out as the plant ^_^

That totally makes sense! But you're always going to be inspired by the artists you admire, even if subconsciously. It's how you learn, you see what works for them and can apply it in your own work. The only thing which makes your work unique is your perspective, or if you're shooting people your unique connection with each person. Focus on that and your work will stand out!

Golly, it just seems so difficult to do! I'm really creative, or at least I think so, but there are a lot of shots that I have which I feel are just so unoriginal, though at the time they were shot completely out of my imagination...I guess that's as close as I can get, though.
Your work is just so incredibly inspiring!
