Description My interpretation of the most important scene in Slovene epic poem The Baptism at the Savica by 19th-century romantic poet France PreΕ‘eren. A beautiful and sad poem about Slavic religion being pushed aside, with it`s last defender beingΒ  baptised at the Savica Waterfall.

I had an epic image in my head but this painting doesn`t do it justice...

I agree. It is sad what was done to local beliefs in the name of Christianity.

I don't know your history. But in my Country The Church was the keeper of the Roman Empire's greatness' and good costumes. So, I don't think that Christianity destroy good beliefs. In my experience brings out and elevates them (because "The glory of God is man fully alive").
But I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Honestly, it's a crime what happened to local beliefs and customs with the advent of Christianity.Β  This is a poignant, powerful scene.

I agree. It is most unfortunate that a lot of beautiful folklore had been lost due to expansion of Christianity. And of course, thank you for your comment.
