Description I was walking through the park one day,
A day like any other.
I think it was mid-April,
One of the warm snatches.
Sky was blue, grass was green.
Nothing really out of the ordinary.
When I came across two men,
Having some kind of discussion.
I didn’t think they saw me,
So I carried on my merry way.
As I got closer, I got a good look at them.
A rugged man, about 25 I’d say.
He was tall, and stocky,
Messy blonde hair, blue eyes,
4 o’clock shadow.
Plain grey t-shirt and ripped jeans.
- How could you do this to me?!
- After all the things I’ve done for you!
I glanced at his companion.
As dark as he was fair.
Chestnut skin, ebony hair.
Eyes so brown they were almost black.
Neat suit I remember,
Navy pinstripe with a lilac shirt and tie.
- I wish there was another way, I do.
- But there’s no other option.
I figured it was a private matter.
Having my own business to attend to,
I walked on by.

- Wait.

I turned around,
Both men were staring at me.
Me, plain brown hair,
Sky blue eyes.
Not bad in my opinion.
- Yes?
- Tell me Miss,
Began the fair one,
- If you were in my position, what would you do?
- Absolutely nothing.
- You’d just let this happen?
He looked at me in disbelief,
- Well, to be honest sir,
There’s nothing to be afraid of.
- How can you be so sure?
- I’ve been in your position.
I was getting bored now,
So I looked around.
A family here and there,
Pensioners and their dogs,
Nothing out of the ordinary.
- Tell me, Miss.
Enquired the businessmen.
- You’ve done this before?
- Yes Doctor, I have.
- Where does that leave me?
It was the blonde peering at me now.
- Exactly where you’re supposed to be.
- Come again?

His friend turns to me, gives a little nod.
- In answer to your question friend.
- I’m doing this because of what you’ve done for me.

I carried on walking,
And both of them followed me.
No ruby slippers this time.
Through the park along the pavement.
I left them at the door.
They stayed close to each other.
The blonde finally realises.
He looks at me. Through me even.
- Thank you.
- Just doing my job sir.

At home I look in my mirror.
Curly red hair,
Grass green eyes.
Just your average jeans and t-shirt girl.

I was walking through the park one day.
So it ends,
And so it begins
