I really wished she was the SkC protagonist instead of Rootspring. He makes alkoxides look acidic. But I digress. For the first half of TBC, her chill makes her stand out compared to her brother, and it'll be cool to have a different take on an unusual heritage than "im special and i hate it pity me plz"
- Kite and Turtle are still little rat bitches but Needle doesn't really care. They're paper tigers anyway; the second Needle brings up their ex-kittypet father (I refuse to accept that random-ass Quailfeather is the father) they run to Reedclaw crying about how the weird girl is mean to them again and Needle has the day to herself. She's rather apathetic about her heritage and spirit powers, and doesn't quite get why anyone should care.
- Needlepaw insists that she's helping. Frecklewish disagrees. Harrybrook disagrees harder.
- Needle and Root are big kits, Needle especially. Violet, despite being the one w/ Sister ancestry, is at most moderately tall and has none of the mass needed to handle kitting massive newborns
- Needle is the one w/ powers, and is the first to discover Bramble's lost ghost. Which is weird, bc he's been dead for a while. By then, Needle has been kinda isolated from Clan life for being too weird, and Needle feels very disconnected from it, which means she has no issue keeping this a secret.
- Violet is low-key worried for her. Her own friend died bc she was isolated from the Clans, and she fears her daughter heading down the same path. Needlepaw doesn't know this, however.
- Needle and Shadow are besties. One has powers, the other is disabled. Together they fight crime!
- While Needle can shrug off bullying just fine, poor Root is less lucky. He's a pathetic wet rag of a cat, and the bullies quickly learn to target him instead. After one of their stunts nearly gets him killed, Needle has to actually stand up for her family for the first time, and from then on constantly covers for Root.
- In general, Needle is pretty apathetic, and struggles to keep up with others or have a motivation. This is not good for her mental health. Part of her character arc involves reconnecting with other cats and her heritage. Bristlefrost (name also subject to change) is going to be majorly important here, and they have a spunky-and-serene dynamic, with Needle often needing to rein in the more passionate but reckless Bris
- Hawkwing sometimes babysits her when her parents are busy. It's hell for him
Some more context:
- Violetlight (Violetshine) is now the Sister-descendant; Tree (name subject to change) is a SkyClan tom and his parents are Hawkwing and Powdermist (Pebbleshine). It just makes more sense given Violet and Twig's character arcs, and tbh Tree's introduction and specialness felt kinda wasted and better used for the sisters, so I lumped him in with the rest of SkyClan
- Macgyver is Reedclaw's mate and Kite and Turtle's dad. The two look nothing like Quailfeather, but I can tweak Macgyver's appearance just a little so the resemblance is clear.
- Harry and Bella are mates; they have 4 kits instead of 3, and Wrenpaw is now Stormpaw after guess who?
