Description It's been one of those days. And yes, I know Maya Angelou is still alive and kicking.

Well, I don't think television is solely to blame. I think it has its good points and its bad points, but probably everybody thinks that (except for Roald Dahl, he can't stand television - but he's dead now, so he probably doesn't count), so there's no point in me trying to sound clever about it.

Good work. I can just imagine students in a hundred years, being told by their robot teachers or whatever to write (or do whatever has replaced writing) an essay about it and discuss the historical context.

A class recently totally put me off ever writing concrete poetry again, but that's another story.

I agree, television is in there more as a red herring than anything. I hold no love for TV, but I also don't hold much contempt for it, either.

Secretly, this poem was just written because I was cheesed off about that goofy haiku I wrote a journal about! Shhh!

I'm flattered that you'd say that about this piece. Or, well, about anything I've written. I'm not sure I agree, but I am incredibly flattered. Thank you.

And bah humbug to classes that scare off rather than inspire! You should definitely have a go at writing concrete poetry when and if an idea for one strikes you! But you know I love your work.

I think it's wonderful how this piece goes from poetic to prosaic to poetic. I like this a lot!

Haha, thanks! I'm glad you don't think it's clumsy; sometimes when I read it it feels like a hard, forced shift... but other times I think it actually works, mostly.

Thank you!

I like this, even though I'm for television. I can't help it, wanting to be a TV writer, I kind of have to be. But I am not for the mindless schmaltz they dump on TV these days.

Anyway, I liked the way you conveyed the message.

ps- I accidentally hit the request print button, sorry.

Haha, well, don't take this as a big television-bashing piece. I mean, i know what the second line says, but this really (in my mind, at least) has nothing to do with television. I don't know if that makes sense, hahaha... but at any rate, this is just one of those kinda spoken-word pieces I write that don't necessarily mean what they appear to mean, if they mean anything at all... Then again, I believe in the power of personal interpretation, so maybe it is about the decline of quality television.

Anyway, thank you! And no need to apologize, I'll just bask in the glow of my first requested print, accidental or no.

Well no, I didn't think it was all about television, although the way it's written I suppose it could be taken that way, or as the downfall of anything that used to be of a higher/better/more worthwhile quality. To me it was almost like a revolutionary piece, even if that thing that we are revolutionizing is our own death.

Uh, anyway, I've jabbered on enough.

If it was a print and I had money I'd buy it!

Flawless, in its own right.

Normally I dislike this sort of read(poetry or prose) but, it was coming from you so I gave it a chance. I don't regret it now .

Did you want the headstones in marble or concrete? Plastic or onyx? Rubble for the rich and gems for the poor.

When you say 'this sort of read,' do you mean concrete poetry? Or what? I'm just curious.

At any rate, thank you, I'm glad you liked it!

Anything with a topic on humanity > morals, etc. It's a broad and avoidable topic for me. lol.
