Description An entry for *runandwine 's ever-so-much-fun Fusion competition. [link]

Congratulations, Runandwine and Solfiku, it's a, er...well, it's not really a girl OR a boy....

This is Eadar. The word in Gaelic means "between" or thereabouts. Not sun, not moon, but liminal, twilight, gloaming, between the two. Anyone who believes that the fierce sun or the cold moon have more power than that which comes between the two should consider the strength of storms when the seasons are changing or the drag of the tide when it is just on the cusp of turning.

One may more easily predict something which is one thing or another: things which are between are rather more dangerously unpredictable. Eadar is neither male nor female (both, sometimes) and neither good nor evil. Not war, or peace, but...indecision. There's power in uncertainty - it can bring down the strength of the strongest man if he's left floundering in it for long enough.

Watercolour paint.
