It's basically a series of science fiction novels which try to merge sci-fi themes with British naval history of the past centuries.

The misty clouds cover it with mystery so well!
Fantastic!

Wow! What an amazing image. I really love the cloud rendering; it really makes the image.

Thanks! The clouds were actually painted in Photoshop. I like adding some smoke or mist to an image to tone down the crisp "computer-generated" look. Even in a space scene, I find it helps, despite not being totally scientifically accurate.

Yup. I really like this. Again, organic with a hint of Foss.

Thanks! I just looked up Chris Foss. Did his work appear in the Terran Trade Authority books? It seems to have that style. In any case, those books are one of my major inspirations.

Nice - and very nice for only 1,5 hours! Did you put a texture on the model or is that painted in Photoshop?

vmulligan In reply to KerroPerro [2011-02-21 06:19:32 +0000 UTC]
The textures were procedural, done with Blender's built-in procedural functions. Only the volumetric effects were added in Photoshop.
