There was a time when I just didn't do line art, it wasn't that bad. I rather like doing no lineart art.
I don't see a problem with not doing lineart, just refine the sketch a bit.

because sketches are messy and need to be cleaned up orz
and i dunno, i guess it's just a common practice

but i HAAAAAATe it with a passion because i'm no good at it orz
there's always a little mistake that makes it harder to color or i have to choose between which will be in the front (the eyes or bangs) and then it'll loose the integrity of the sketch orz (and of course for me it never turns out better than the sketch)
