The Battle for the Socratia Triangle in Rubikon II lives on in history as one of the most intense ground battles of the Second Ancerious War. Massive interplanetary, orbital, suborbital, atmospheric and land confrontations raged between the combined forces of the AGA -who sought to knock out or seize the industrial powerhouse in Rubikon and its Capitolite defenders.

One of its many infamous chapters was the almost complete annihilation of the first wave of invaders at the hands of Capitol enhanced radiation nuclear bombs. The barrage of nuclear weapons directed at the LZ fatally irradiated almost all units involved. Knowing that it would be a matter of a few days before acute radiation poisoning rendered them incapable of fighting and unable to get the advanced medical care they needed to survive, the first wave of invaders launched a massive suicide offensive to gain as much territory as possible before the second wave arrived. The ferocity that the "armies of the dead' showed inn battle made them the stuff of legend and allowed the second wave of invaders to land on a much more spread-out area, avoiding a similar fate.

Routed by the armies of the dead, the GEPAR 1717th Motorized Vanguard Regiment attempts to fall back and reorganize under the cover of friendly SAMs. They are hunted down and destroyed by Restevian SUA-704 "Molotok" gunships, whose pilots have very little reason left to fear long-range air defense units. Going out like warriors, the Restevian pilots obliterate GEPAR's retreating forces with their arsenal of missiles and fast-firing 50mm chainguns before being shot down themselves.
