Description Will probably scrap this later! Just a little step by step of this: [link]

Make a new layer on top of the white one- make sure it's transparent. Draw out rough shapes for the body of the horse in a bright colour. Large circles and ovals work best for me, connected by rough lines. If you need referance- grab a picture to look at while you're sketching. I didn't use one because I wanted to challenge myself.

Start roughly sketching where the legs will be positioned- keeping in mind all the important joints. Include the hips and shoulder blade to make it easier.

On a new layer, start sketching out the lines in black and work with them until you're happy.

Delete the red layer so you're left with sharp black lineart.

Make a new layer and sketch out rough shapes for the rider and again- go over with black.

Delete the red layer. At this point I wasn't happy with the position of the head, so I lowered it. Start adding detail: tack, facial features, mane tail, hair and clothes.

On a new transparent layer underneath the lines, start to fill in the colour of the horses body.

Shade the body in. Go to the lineart layer and select the area around it. The go the your colour layer and press delete to get rid of the excess colour. Next, make a new layer and do the same for tack, mane & tail, rider etc.

Fully shaded image, now flatten the layer together (except the white BG- delete it) and you'll end up with a nice shaded image on a transparent layer.
