Vox borrows Fish's collar and soon finds himself with a pair of brilliantly white wings...meh, that's just the idea behind it... see, Fish's collar gives her the ability to use emotion to create wings... so in an RP session i had with her, I borrowed it for a bit... figured it would be a fun thing to draw... plus i haven't drawn Vox's feral form in a long time....
anyways, hope you guys like it, this is my second drawing with colored pencils... they annoy the heck out of me, but i eventually did figure it out...
anyways I've asked for critique on this one... cause I know i still have a lot to learn about colored pencils... if any of you have an idea of what i could do to make my coloring better or anything else you can think of.. please tell me!

First and foremost, this is absolutely adorable. Adding accessories, etc. to wolves gets on my nerves (usually), but I like this. Some anatomy work is needed, but overall, the visual is fantastic.
Your paws, in particularly, are very boxy and basic, but I really do like this. The wings, also, seem a little basic to me (though I can't draw wings for shit e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a… " width="19" height="19" alt="
I also am extremely jealous of that coloring skill. The color looks awesome, so clean and smooth. One thing, though, that would make this loook better would be to shade next time. If you did, I can't tell (not so good), but if you didn't, then here is a good tutorial for you: [link]
It explains shading and has editions for basic colored pencil coloring,and you expressed interest in the Artists Comments for learning how to better learn with them.

and omgsh, yes i agree with you... i hate it when some people just keep throwing on accessories on animals... because i do put on some, so I'm glad to hear that it's not too much...
hmm, ya I'll admit, i tend to over-simplify some things... it's a bad habit of mine... I'll work on trying to make things more detailed and complex...

Did you use copic markers? But either way, the colors really look vibrant and lively! The shading was nicely done too; not too thick and applied in all the right places ^^
Color pencils eh? ell, I learnt from tutorials that blending colors is the way to go. So for instance if you colored Vox here blue; you would use complementary colors like purple for darker areas or orange for lighter ones.
But man, you've really improved by leaps and bounds in your coloring since I disappeared half a year ago

lol the scanner made the colors more vibrant than they really are... i did this one with mainly prismacolor colored pencils... except for the blue splotches were done with markers...
the shading was SOooo freaking hard on this one... i was still getting used to colored pencils... so i started out as light as i possibly could, and then just kept building up the shades... took me long enough too... about 5 hours or so....
and i did use a colored pencil tutorial, it gave me a few very good pointers, but it didn't mention much on which colors to use for shading... so i just used various shades of blue for the fur for example... i didn't try to use complimentary colors... but that is probably a good idea... i think I'll do that next time...
ya... coloring has always been a stumbling block for me... I'm glad i was able to get a few good drawings done with full color.... and ya, as far as coloring goes, I've improved greatly....

its really good, and finally I learned something about your style. More straight lines than curves ( that is what I see)
the face, ears, paws,tail and even wings show that. And its cool your comic style, the black outline.
and the coloring its very good.

hmm... well that's more of how my style is in this specific picture... but sometimes i get all wavy and curvy with my lines.. it really depends on my mood...
but as an engineering i guess it would be in my nature to do more straight lines with specific shape to them...
hahah x3 but ya, i do always do that black outline... i really like how it makes pictures look x3 lol

Oooh! I LOVE how his hair and his expression came out! It really sticks out to me :3 But the whole thing looks really good too, I like the way you draw wings
As for critiques, I guess you could maybe use some darker shades of blue to make the shading stand out more? That might make it pop a little better I guess.

hmm... darker shadings... I've had a few ppl mention that... i think I'll definitively add more depth to my pictures from now on...

WOOT!! Traditional art picture from you! And I love that you splotched the back with markers because when I was looking at this in thumbnail form, I thought it was digital because of that. XD I love the outlining job (I like dark outlines with lighter outlines on the inside~), especially on the wings. LOVE the wings~ 
Ah, critique on coloring job, eh? Personally, I really like what you did here because you pulled it off very smoothly, but I shall add my suggestion 'cause I feel like it. °3° When colored penciling, the way to get the smoothest texture is to color in little circles rather than straight-back-and-forth-lines like most people do. If you notice, for example, in the tail, you can see which way the pencil strokes are going. In the black part, it looks like fur, so I like it, but if you don't want a fur texture on every part, coloring softly in tiny circles gets you a really smooth look. ^^ Hope that helps!

oooh and btw, the lighter outlines is due to how i line arted it... i re-went over my lines with a pencil once i was done...
thanks! i had to re-go over ALL Of the shading like 4 times... gah, it was quite frustrating... the only reason it worked was because i had so many different colors that worked together for each color... which is also why the black turned out so weird... cause i didn't have too many colors to shift between, so it got all sketchy....
hmm... but circles do look nice, my problem is that i have no clue how to keep even shading with circles... so I think i personally will stick with my method... just need to use less hardness when I'm drawing... because the later colored got drowned out...
anyways, thank you so much for all the help! it's always good to get a little input...
and hopefully I'll do more colored pencil work in the future!

Yeah, colored pencils are like that ... so many different colors work, so you blend them all together (and it's fuuuun~). But as for pesky black, usually to get it dark enough, I have to keep adding layers. >w< So it goes from gray to black and then more gray and more black and then blue, then MORE black ... I get so tired of black. XD
That's fine! You can stick to what you know, and I think you're right-it probably is a good idea to go lighter on the pencils. But this picture looks great, and I hope you get inspired to do more colored pencil work later! Not that I don't love your Photoshop pictures~
