He looks as much orangutan as ogre.Β  And that thoughtful expressionΒ makes me feel for him.

love this, I know its an ogre, but, this would also be incredible as a Planet of the Apes concept.

Yes! I definitely can't wait for it! I always talked about it being a new version of planet of the apes. It reminds me of the classics from the 50's or was it the 60's. I can't recall, anyway i'm anxious!

Thanks for the comment and the fave. I usually work on one layer these days, some times I'll use three if I am a little unsure. When I used to do digital abstract work I used to have 100+ layers and be too lazy to name them so I just keep switching the eye icon on and off

That's kool I did use references of gorillas to create it and thanks for liking it

I think the choice of gorillas as a reference really grounds it as something you could believe in.

Yeah it helps when you try to do imaginable creatures to have something relate it to the real world. Those are the creatures that really attracts me.

Really cool, han?
Tell me about it. Weta has come to upward the level in a level close to the ILM's presence in 1976. I've been following not closely ILM, Digital Domain and Sony Imageworks.
I didn't thought to see another company breaking in as fast as WETA did.
Anyway, thx for the exchanging.

Usually work on only one layer man when it comes to 2d painting.

thadeemon In reply to vshen [2011-04-04 12:05:23 +0000 UTC]

Pwoarrrrr.. WHA?.. Too much skill. I work on about.. 500+ layers, a bottle of bourbon and a wigi board.

JTGuilber In reply to thadeemon [2011-04-07 02:25:25 +0000 UTC]

lol Awesome notes; the first one really focused and skilled artist stuff, this last one of yours, totally inspiring.
One layer for me, would make me need 500 bottles of bourbon.
Cheers, friends!

Wow, this is great. The texturing is just awesome. Yeah, weta does amazing work, and it is always a blast to check out what they are working on.

Thanks I appreciate it. Texturing took a bit of time and pretty happy on how it turned out. Companies like Weta and ILM are such an inspiration to me, always a pleasure seeing their work on the big screen. I can't wait what Weta will come up with Tin Tin.
