Thanks. I completely agree with the ironing. I now understand why people only iron one side now on larger works. I started ironing the top side and some areas were higher then others and needed more heat. That's what caused the uneven ironing. Next time I am going to flat iron the back side and try and leave the front untouched and mount it on some foam core.
I had only been beading for about 3 weeks before I did this project so I'm definitely still learning as I go.

I'll be honest I wouldn't start anything this big at all. Although this is a very easy design compared to some of my other works the sheer size of this is no task for a beginner. I would look up mario sprites and bead a few of those first. Just a mario, power ups, goombas ect. This will help you get a feel for beading and ironing (the hardest part). When beading these images each pixel is one bead. So pick a sprite from here www.mariouniverse.com/sprites/… the save it to your computer and zoom in all the way to the one you want and begin beading. Start small. Also this took like 10 plus boards. It would be a very expensive first project with out the skills to complete it.

Yes it's custom, I had to use the sprites from the characters and the ground and build the scene. You are welcome to make it though. I only ask that you send a pic my way so I can see what you did with it! I also have my bead sheets, original image and bead usage chart if you want them. Just send a message.
