Description

Just in time for the next name-and-number character after this one to be out, too. Top image featuring Olympia 9, alternative version Olympia 9 Elder, and a male I built on the Olympia 9 head base called Lysander. Bottom image featuring Olympias through the years.

Olympia 9 comes with the usual Actor/Character file, and sliders for head, body and HD details. As far as materials go, she has the usual items -- full material including eyes and mouth and unlike with Kala 9, her All Materials preset does apply the appropriate male or female genital, indicating that Kala's issue was likely an accidental omission (which has not yet been fixed, but then, likely nobody has filed a ticket for something so easy to fix on their own). In a mildly surprising development, Olympia 9 actually includes (GAWSP!) an HD normal map! ... yes, just the one, for her head -- looks like it's mainly skin detail more than anything else.  (NB: the ticket I filed on this issue back in March remains unaddressed and unacknowledged.)

Daz has gone back to Starter and Pro bundles, for some reason, and some of the content for this is from the pro bundle. (For some odd reason, the hero image for the Olympia 9 pro bundle is Olympia Teen and not Olympia herself.) The Alternate Shapes for Olympia 9 were a pro bundle exclusive, which gave additional morphs and some textures for Olympia the Elder and for Olympia the Teen (not shown here). Olympia the Elder does add some nice aging options, albeit attached purely to Olympia -- you can mix and match (and in fact, Lysander uses Olympia the Elder at abot 25%), but they're not generic aging options, and Olympia will always be a part of any character using them.

The hair and clothes on both women were part of the pro bundle as well. Olympia the Elder wears the Olympian Goddess dress with Demetria Hair. (Crown and dangly bits are included with the hair.) Olympia 9 wears the Bohemian Hero outfit and FE Arkadiusz hair. Both dresses are dForce but seem to pose well enough without it, at least in standing poses. The hairs come with a reasonable assortment of materials (Demetria is actually pretty large).

The set as shown here is a bit of a kitbash. The main part of it is XI Zeus Throne Room, also included in the Pro bundle. The columns and arch that appear in the background are from Indigites DII. The reason they're in the picture is that in order to get this set to work at all, I had to turn off the ceiling with the eyeball -- this structure is absolutely brutal to light, and I honestly have no idea how they got it to look the way it does in the promos. However, once you turn off the ceiling, there's a dome structure that becomes completely and visibly unsupported, and it bothered me enough that I shoved some structure in so that it wouldn't look like it was about to collapse. (Of course, now that the columns are present, you can't see the dome at all, so you can' tell what all the fuss was about. Ah, well.) If you get this, just be aware that lighting it well enough for anything to be seen will be something of a trial.

The lower image is just a comparison of Olympias through the generations, as I've done in the past . All wearing Sorbet swimwear. For this one, I mostly gave up on trying to make the same or equivalent poses on most of them. The same pose preset worked well enough on 6 and 7 and would have utterly failed to work at all on 8 or 9. Oddly enough, of the people in the forum who expressed an opinion, the consensus seems to be (a) liked Olympia 6 and 7 to various degrees, (b) detested Olympia 8, and (c) think that Olympia 9 is OK. Excluding Olympia 9 The Elder from the analysis, they appear to have possibly pulled back a touch on age between 8 and 9, and perhaps tried to make 9 more distinctive -- turns out she has a bit of a schozz on her when seen in profile, if only a bit.

And that's it for this one.
