Competing in the Stallion Halter class
Competing in the first event on the first day of the show was definitely nerve racking, but the thought that this was the Western Olympics...that certainly hit hard with Morgan. Even though the Olympic committee had requested, with a definite yes from Imperialis Equestrian Center to host the 2014 Games at Vee Eight, it was still a very nervous thing for Morgan.
All morning she had worked on preparing Boomer for his Olympic debut in the Stallion Halter, and with an hour to go before the class started, the chestnut was gleaming a beautiful copper colour. Boomer naturally represented the Quarter Horse breed well; with his short, stocky build, and of course, his wonderful work ethic. But despite this, he was still a typical stallion, and definitely knew how to throw his weight around. Which is what he had been doing all day. Morgan was beginning to wonder whether or not it was a good idea to enter such an unexperienced horse into a prestigious event such as this, especially since Boomer was refusing to cooperate with anything that Morgan put forward to him. He was being head strong, and unwilling, and it certainly was getting on her nerves. Big time.
Leading the heavy stallion from the barn, the sun shone down brightly. She had been watching the weather forecast on the news for the past week, and she knew that she better soak up the lovely weather while she had it, because it was not going to last very long at all throughout the program of this event. She walked Boomer around the edge of the arena on the cobbled path; a daily routineΒ that required absolutely no brain power at all. Boomer felt the same, too, as he focused more on seeing how much he could push his owner around, rather than where he was going, and who was going to be there to meet him. So naturally, when the many other competitors came in to his line of view, it was a very big shock to the stallion. Right on cue, his desire to please and work kicked in, and he began to respond to Morgan immediately.
Look out Olympic competitors, this is Boomer's territory..
Artist's Comments:
Now as most of you know, yes, I am the founder of the Western Olympics. BUT! The group and show itself has been sold to Show-Society , as I realised I simply do not have the time to run it. It's too much of a work load for me, as I now have Mustang-Millionaire , as well as being a Co-Founder in the HARPG-The-WD . But naturally, an upside to this would be the fact that I am now eligible to enter! Not too sure why I chose Boomer, rather than Six Shot Revolver or I Blue Myself...he was just the first horse that pooped into my mind. So, you will be seeing much more of this boy in the next couple of months. He will be entered in as many classed as I can manage.
