Yeah, I pretty much just work over the original pic, I'm abit of a retard in that I can't just think up something and do it without a reference. Well, if it's simple, like that Night picture, then I can do it, but people...I can't do correct shading without the pic. I hope that answers your question.

Aaww, shucks all, thank you for the comments. Tehehe, I'm kinda relieved noone mentioned the fact the pic isn't centred very well, I did it late at night and I must have been a bit cocked eyed by the time I finished it! Hahaha... I'm too lazy to change it now, another day maybe.
