I definitely want to make this for my best friend. I'm going to be making her a quilt with Lugia on it because it's her favorite pokemon, so I -have- to learn this pattern so I can send her this plushie to match! :3 I'm going to take your advice and try to do a few other plushies as practice since it's not something I've ever done before. I'm excited to try the pokemon patterns especially because my best friend would appreciate them, I think, but I'm really up to try anything.

i made one, i have only ever made one amigurumi doll and my nanna taught me how to crochet and she said i did a very good job and on the instructions for this you said it was a bit difficult but i gave it a try and it came out awesome!! thank you so very much!!!!!!

Well, in the general world of crochet, that particular doll *is* considered difficult. I'm so glad you found it easy to do and enjoyed making one! That's the primary reason I put up those patterns, so others can enjoy making them

I don't really remember exactly, but he's *somewhere* around 24 inches long, and about 18 inches wide (wing tip to wing tip). It's been quite a while since I did this one, so those numbers may be off a little.....

Ahhh, well there's a whole new world of things to crochet out there when it comes to dolls and amigurumi! (Try a google search for amigurumi and click on 'images', you might be amazed at the number of different ways you can go with it

I considered making it larger, but it would have become far too heavy. Crochet work gets heavy after a while...and it wouldn't have worked as well at the neck or wings - because the weight would have caused them to droop terribly.
Some things just aren't very practical in crochet/knit and even in traditional plushie making. You gotta compromise
