Woah... my best guess here is the hawk was injured and is trying ti fly again... maybe? I dunno, it explains the title and band on its leg^^ Anyway, favs!

This is a falconers bird, it wasn't "injured and is trying to fly again". Those leather straps on it's legs are called "jesses" and used on raptors for falconry. The falconer is likely exercising his bird here. As for the metal band, I suspect it's something similar to breeders bands used in parrots- they're for ID purposes. The title is probably alluding to the fact that this is a fledgling bird and as such, his training and learning to fly and hunt with his falconer is a step by step process.
Such a gorgeous Harris hawk, and such a lovely shot. I love the leg positions in this photo. It's got good action in it.
