Description
This is a like my metaphorical version of "Envy" I guess? or at least Envy was the inspiration behind this picture (don't worry I'm not dealing with any Envy/jealousy issues. I made this picture for an "Art Talk" video for my channel this week where I talk about the subject.) and let me tell you, it was SO MUCH FUN! to paint something Original for once! but not just original like a character, but something that was just an idea and a fun image in my head with no background or whatever.

I also went for more of a semi-realism style, but still with some cartoony elements? I noticed that the more I improve on painting the more my semi-realism gets better, and the more my style is inching towards semi-realism mixed with cartoon, and I'm really liking it. Obviously tis is more on the semi-realism side, where normally I'm a lot more cartoony, but it's really cool to mix it up!
I wanted to make her both ugly/gross, and beautiful at the same time. Beauty because often times, people that are envious of others usually have great qualities/things that they take for granted because they are too busy looking at what someone else has, and ugly because Envy is definitely an ugly trait! And often blinding to not only they have, but twists the truth to see something else into something gross and thus creating conflict (thus the melted eye, and the puffy half melted eye)

I stayed away from leaves or vines like poison Ivy because I didn't want her to look like the supervillain "Poison Ivy" from DC comics XD

I chose the flowers because turns out there's two flowers out there with green petals called Envy!!! The pure green flowers are Zinnias, while the red and green flowers are Echinacea, both reffered to as Envy, obviously because of their strange color. and I thought the fly traps were perfect because often times envious people are like traps, they seem nice at first but then you're caught up in their toxic friendship/relationship once you're with them. plus they fit the color scheme XD
I also wanted to make her crying like she was upset, but with slightly narrowed eye brows like she's upset but a little angry, because envy can make you feel both sad and worthless, and or angry and lash out on others.
