Description EDIT: Full Master Sword Prop - [link]

Link stood before the pedestal. Nearly everyone at this point had claimed he was the next "Hero Chosen by the Goddesses". He knew this, and everything certainly was pointing in that direction; the spirits had given him the green tunic the ancient hero of legend was said to have worn. He had been transformed into a wolf when the twilight came while everyone else became nothing more than spirits oblivious to what was happening around them.

But... this, this was a mistake, it had to be. He was nothing more than a simple ranch-hand from a small village. He had let the village children including his best friend and his little brother-figure get kidnapped. Colin had nearly gotten killed, and Ilia couldn't remember who he was now!

Oh, Ilia... His eyes began to sting. What kind of a 'hero' was he if he couldn't even protect those dearest to him?

Part of him wanted to believe he truly was the next hero of legend. Part of him wanted to believe his wasn't. He needed proof. The tunic wasn't enough to satisfy his doubt.

The Master Sword. The weapon that allows only the one chosen hero to wield it, no one else can bear it. This would be all the proof he wanted. If this sword chose him, he would bear the burden of solitude. He would be condemned to battle the greatest evil this world had ever known, alone. Losing would be his death and the downfall of everything good in this world. If it rejected him, he would be free to do what he'd wanted to since all this started: go home, retrieve his friends and return home where he could enjoy the company of his loved ones. Let someone else be the hero.

Link slowly wrapped his fingers around the hilt and pulled. The blade easily surrendered to him as he raised it for a moment before swinging it about several times to get a feel for its movements.

He brought it back up and studied the handle. There were scratches, most were obviously from use in battle, but some looked more deliberate.

Its previous wielders had marked their place in the sword's existence.

There were so many. With all the wounds and trauma Link had endured thus far, would he still have the courage and strength to go on? To defeat Lord Ganon and save the people of Hyrule?

Bo, Uli, Renaldo, Rusl, Talo, Malo, Beth, Colin, Ilia...

No... He had to do this. He was the next hero of legend, he was convinced of that now. He had to win. Failure wasn't an option. His own death wasn't an option. He wouldn't let the sacrifices of his family or the former bearers of the Triforce of Courage be in vain.

With the Master Sword now on his back, he turned and left the clearing. He would proceed to his fate; a single tear rolling down his cheek...

Cliche at its finest...

Wow, first time I ever wrote a complete spur-of-the-moment scene, and in one sitting. No doubt there's several errors in it and my deepest apologies if it seems a bit rushed. I'm not much of a writer and doing this at one in the morning didn't help.

The glowing light was inspired by Simplicata/SpoonfishLee's version of the Master Sword but the rest is my personal interpretation of the same weapon. The official design didn't match too well with the Link realism when I tried to use it. I just thought such a famous and well-loved weapon deserves a bit more detail than it has.

I'd seen other fan-art of Link wearing a cloak, I thought I would try it.

I drew six scars on Link, can you find them all?

That's my left hand... hence why it looks so bad.

I now have a new hatred for the human throat...

Anyone besides me notice how much Link looks like Cloud Strife? I've never even watched or played Final Fantasy outside of random bits and pieces I'd seen on Youtube.

Kudos to Link here for giving me my first case of artist's cramp. T_T I'm gonna collapse now... *Zzzzzzz....*

Isn't that the sword design that SpoonfishLee had put in his 25th anniversary time-lapse digital painting of Link?

Influenced by his design, yes. I intended to make it a blend of his design, the official design, and elements of my own creation. In the end it looked more like Spoon's base with my own designs around the hilt and the wrap.    I failed at original weapon designing back then. OTL

Understandable. But i figured I would point it out, as I saw it as an obscure reference.

Love it. Your version of the master sword is cooler than the official design.

He looks extremely handsome, but also wistful and melancholy... and yet I can see just a tiny bit of hope deep in his eyes. Determination, perhaps. This is a wonderful piece, full of feels. Great job. Never stop drawing.

You have no idea how nice it is getting comments longer than five words (Link here seems to get most of them). :happycry
I know what you described was what I was going for but I was afraid I didn't pull it off. I'm happy to hear I did! Thank you for telling me!

Why has no one commented? D:
This si amazing... I do see faint scars on him. The swrod is so beautiful.... the story even more so. I could feel the words as I read them as if it were real. As if it were happening before me, or maybe to me because of the detail you put in it. You are no apprentice... you are truly an amazing artist through words and through canvas.
