love the eva units!the pilots are fuckin morons though!! its always like this! all the gimps get the guyver units and eva's to pilot! the only respectable anime hero is spike from cowboy bebop!
this picture i copied from a leaflet which comes with collection 0:4 of the series Neon Genesis EVANGELION... needed to get a hang of drawing the eva unit...

well the pilots are set up to feel what the eva feels, like in his first fight when the evas arm was broken, it registered in his head that his arm was broken, and he could feel it, same with any other hits the eva takes, and im sure theres some kind of identity confusion related to bonding with a giant alien every day...

I knew that, I still think hes a pussy, doesnt mean he cant make for a good protaganist though, I like to see his reactions to situations, and sometimes he has some pretty good points, but Im not going to completely take his side in every situation.

hm, makes sense, the thing that stands out to me in this anime most is how fragile peoples mental stability is, like when you watch a movie or play a video game, the main character is always pretty chill about the people getting riped up or giant pissed of monsters fuckin shit up, but i dont know if we could really handle that kind of a situation mentally... just a personal thought...

True, but in games and most movies, usually the main protaganist is an adult, so I would assume they have a more mental stability. As a child, your mind is still processing information like a computer, tryng to figure out what It will be once it has attained enough information, this doesnt mean that all children/adults are the same, I find Makinami from Rebuild to be my favorite, and in most cases so far, the most mature. Usually because of here cool-headed and playful attitude. Shinji is a mess, low self esteem, his dad is a bit of an asshole, and decides to be his father somewhat only years later, and suddenly hes supposed to be Billy Badass, on top of that people give him shit for doing his job, not a good mix for a kid like Shinji, and that works really well, because hes so unstable, he could snap at any given moment while fighting. I agree the show really does portay the characters really well, and I can understand just about everone of them, at one point or another.

absolutely!
but this is quite an exaggerated pose. iv had a look at that episode again and this definately wasnt the exact way the evas were running as its far too close to the ground to be able to animate easily. again, i drew this from a dvd leaflet which had that particular pose.
however from a comic book/staging standpoint the pose is quite dynamic and does the job. i cant say if its the exact thing you are looking for though since i dont know what you want your run to look like.
you can probably easily find some run cycles online or on youtube and just get the keyframes from those if this one doesnt work out for you. good luck to you!

really excantuates how the evas are such massive machines of destruction yet they can move so fast!
...Also i wanted to ask for your permision as the original artist if i could copy and colourise it or something. i'll tell you when i figure what im gonna do but nothing but planning until i get the all good from you.
