This lovely couple of CPRC-26 Type As are the newest additions to the family. These radios have six channels and are crystal controlled. The CPRC-26 series sports a VHF frequency range of 47 to 55.4 MHz and an operational range of about 1 mile. These particular units were manufactured by Rogers Majestic in Canada.

I just built some new batteries for them and they work great!

This is really cool. I too have also wanted to get an old field radio but here in Canada they have to go through a deactivation giving it little use other than being a novelty

Thanks for the compliment! It's a real shame they need to be deactivated for you to own.

I'm no expert on Canadian laws regarding this so I might be wrong, but I think it would be safe to assume that FRS radios would be perfectly legal since most military radios use VHF. I know WPG makes a replica BC-611 that uses FRS. I've considered getting one myself but I'm not quite sure about it yet.
