Description Was waiting for my stuff to render for my demo reel, and this is what I drew. It's based off a WWII photo of a BAR gunner in a forward post.

I think he survived to be in a lot of other pictures. The soldier in that picture was also seen in about two other pictures from that series of LIFE photos.

Well, it surely look like the kind of guy you'd expect to see on a WW2-era Life cover! Really neat tribute

Ironically he is on a LIFE cover. I based it off an original photo.

I love the smug look on his face. Why wasn't just regular riflemans rifle instead as a support weapon?

warman707 In reply to tyrannos [2011-01-18 11:48:38 +0000 UTC]

I know right? I mean it's almost part of the job to have a smug look while being a squad gunner. And it's based off a real photo, so that's why it has the support weapon.

Have to admit i had often same smile when holding my mg, but I meant that why everyone on the squad hadn't that gun?

I wouldn't doubt that it did happen. I mean I saw a unit of Thompson sub machine gunners before.

Well it is based off an origonal photo. His face is a little different, but the colors and textures were made by me.

And thanks a lot!

Ah, nothing like the M1918A2 Browning Automatic Rifle, the one of the odd weapons that fell into no precise category. It may be regarded as a rather light machine gun or as a rather heavy assault rifle, but in practice it was used as a form of light machine gun, but wasn't given bi-pods til 1937 on the A1 and A2 models.

And the lovely 20 round magazine box limiting there fire during fights.

Awesome job here warman

You know your stuff man. It is though a very heavy rifle inspite of it sometimes falling under light machine gun. haha!

Thanks a lot man!

Yeah, 8.8kg (19.4 pounds), while assault rifles now are just around 3-7 pounds.

Also it happens I'm a WWII guy and have an Encylopedia of Weapons of WWII book
