Description Everyone was in havoc. With the war soon to come, all the people were on edge. You were calm, leaning against a pillar as men young and old flew past to make sure they were a hundred percent ready. You were not scared of death; whether or not it was your soon-to-be immortality, or the fact you were on cloud nine.

You caught glance of Aragorn, walking towards another room. You assumed that was where the armor was kept, for you have seen many walk in without, and then leave with the silver glistening in the moonlight.  Deciding to follow your fellow companion, you pounced up the stairs.

When you got in, you were handed mail mesh in the shape of a loose shirt. You grimaced as you walked over to Aragorn, glancing around as you took off your corset and your over blouse. “There are many inexperienced fighters here.” You mumbled as you worked the chain mail over your head.

Aragorn glanced at you, furrowing his brows. “Many are going to die.” You said blankly as you fixed the armor, glancing down to make sure it fit. You did not enjoy the feel of the chains against your body, but it was a safety precaution that none of the Fellowship would allow you go without. He didn’t say anything as you as he finished, grabbing his sword. “We have trusted you this far. You have not led us astray.”

Your blue eyes looked up to watch Legolas and Aragorn converse, a small smile creeping on your lips. “Forgive me. I was wrong to despair.” They both put their hands to their hearts, as a sign of forgiveness. “There is nothing to forgive, Legolas.” Aragorn’s Elvish words spoke softly.

A small gruff and grunt caused you to glance over at the shuffle of boots. “We had time, I’d get this adjusted.” Gimli growled as the chain mail pooled around his feet. You giggled, bringing your hand to your mouth. “It’s a little tight across the chest.” The dwarf spoke. He looked sincere.

The sound of a distant horn caused you to pause, stopping yourself from snapping your corset back up. “That is no Orc horn.” Legolas breathed out. The two men ran up the stairs, towards the noise. You glanced at Gimli before running after them, hastily pulling your cloak around your shoulders. The sound was very familiar.

Your heels clicked as you halted behind Legolas, looking down the stone steps at… a group of Elves! Haldir, the Elf from Lothlorien, was standing in front of an army of Elves. His eyes met yours and the company. “We come to honor that allegiance.”

Aragorn climbed down the stones, hugging Haldir tightly. The Elf looked surprise, for hugging wasn’t a gesture between one another- but he soon smiled and embraced Aragorn back. “Ant dhîn vîr mi 'ûr nîn. (I shall treasure your gift in my heart)” You bowed, getting a nod of gratitude from the Elf.

Haldir turned towards King Théoden. “We are proud to fight alongside Men once more.” You smiled gratefully at the outcome. We indeed had a better chance of succeeding more. Théoden was at a loss of words as he nodded, looking around with wide eyes.

It was quiet. The only sound that could be heard was the shuffling of feet, the clearing of throats… And, well, for the Elves, the marching of Orcs. You shiftened uncomfortably from where you stood in-between Legolas and Gimli, in the front lines. The three of you were positioned in front of the other three layers of fighters behind you.

The Orcs were now marching closer and closer, their chanting low. “You could have picked a better spot.” Gimli growled from beside you. Your blue eyes looked down at him in amusement, for he couldn’t see from under the rock wall. “We could have.” You purred.

You turned your head as Aragorn walked behind you three, looking at Legolas. Gimli looked up at the warrior. “Well, lad, whatever luck you live by, let’s hope it lasts the night.” The Scottish accent sang. “Your friends are with you, Aragorn.” Legolas spoke. You nodded, keeping your hands from trembling against your bow as you looked out at the size of the army. “We will gladly die with you.” You muttered.

Aragorn patted your shoulder before walking away once more. There were flashes of lightning, and large booms of thunder as you waited. That was all you could do for the time being. You first heard the tinkling of something hitting armor, and then you felt it. Rain started to pour, dancing around the two armies.

“Great.” You mumbled sarcastically. Legolas bumped your shoulder in an affectionate way, as if telling you it would be alright. “Show them no mercy, for you shall receive none!” Aragorn’s voice called out. A yell from an Orc caused them all to halt, yards away from Helm’s Deep’s stone wall where you stood on top of.

You looked out into the crowd of Orcs, mumbling Elvish curses. Many bellows and growls came from the disgusting creatures as they waited for the signal to fight. Gimli started to fidget beside you, “What’s happening out there?” He whined. Legolas grinned. “Shall I describe it to you? Or would you like me to find you a box?”

A large smirk crossed your features as you snorted, glaring at the two. Your attention was brought back to a large cry; the Orc’s now slamming their spears into the ground. You squinted past the rain, swallowing a large ball in your throat. Many inexperienced humans drew their bows, aiming it at the army that lay.

You were silent, calm, almost as if you were not there. It had been awhile since you used a bow, but it felt oh so familiar as you ran a hand down the base. A sudden arrow flew, striking an Orc straight in the neck. You narrowed your eyes in question as it fell, dead. The Orcs started to scream, guttering and crying out. They were mad.

With a large cry, they all started to rush forward. “Prepare to fire!” Aragorn called out. You quickly drew your bow, holding it to your liking as you waited for the call. Drawing your arrow back, you inhaled softly. “Their armor is weak at the neck and beneath the arm.” Legolas reminded all those around him.

“Release arrows!” At the call your arrow flew, catching an Orc right in the neck. All the other arrows flew almost a fraction of a second slower; except for Legolas. Many Orcs flew backwards, either wounded or dead. “Did they hit anything!?” Gimli asked. You nodded frantically as you withdrew another arrow, letting go.

The Orcs sent arrows flying back from a wooden crossbow, hitting few. Just then, multiple ladders started to appear along the walls, the Orcs starting to climb. You threw your bow across your back and withdrew your sword as an Orc came flying, Gimli’s axe catching it.

Many of the controlled lines of warriors were now scattered as the creatures jumped into the mess, swinging their swords. You pounced on to the ledge of the wall, just over the ladder in front of you. You drew your bow and started letting arrows fly directly down.

You watched as Orcs fell, and just as they started to climb, used all your strength to push the ladder back, watching it fall into the crowd. “Legolas! Two already!” You looked back in confusion as you jumped down from the edge.

“I’m on 17!” The Elf laughed. You raised your eyebrows at their childish behavior, trying to hide a smirk as your sword went through the back of an Orc. “I’ll have no pointy-ear outscoring me!” Gimli yelled in outrage. You laughed as you practically jumped over him, kicking an Orc in the face, your sword going clean through it as it fell. “Two, pointy-ears, Gimli!” You smirked.

They both glanced at you in surprise, before a warm smile etched its way onto Legolas’ face. All three of you continued slaying Orcs, jumping over bodies, and listened to the two call out numbers. You brought down multiple Orcs, swaying majestically as you brought them down.

“Bring him down, Legolas!” You heard Aragorn’s desperate call. You looked out into the army of Orcs, watching as one ran towards the sewage tunnel. An arrow shot through close to you, hitting it square in the shoulder. It continued to run.

Your breath caught in your throat as Legolas shot again, hitting it in the opposite shoulder. “Get down!” You called as it fell into the tunnel. Part of the wall exploded, causing men, Orcs, and stones to fly up into the air, crashing into the ground.

You stumbled backwards, falling as your ears rung. Debris and stone parts hurdled past you, coating everyone in dirt. You stayed on the stone wall for heartbeats upon heartbeats, your eyes slowly coming back to their senses as you struggled to stand up.

That’s when you realized you lost sight of Legolas. You felt another shot of adrenaline pump through your veins as you stood on shaking legs, withdrawing your sword from the ground. “Aragorn! Fall back from the keep! Get your men out of there!” You could hear somebody call from a distance.

Finally, you started to limp away, catching the color red in your gaze. Haldir. Just as you were to call to him, an Orc decided to pick a battle with the Elf. He brought it down, but was quickly stabbed by another. “Haldir!” You called, pushing past others to run towards him.

He looked dazed as he swayed, trying to figure out what just happened. “Haldir! Behind you!” You cried out as an Orc’s blade smashed right into the back of his skull. Aragorn caught him before he fell, you sliding up beside them.

“Novaer… (Farewell)” You whispered, your voice ever so softly cracking. Aragorn gently laid him down and ran right back into battle, you following. He disappeared as you sliced into the throat of an Orc, watching its black blood spill.

You were distracted, before feeling a particular sting rip through your right thigh. The scarlet liquid that you had not seen in awhile spilt from the wound, causing you to twirl around. Your sword met with another’s, struggling until you kicked the Orc off the side of the wall. That only made your injury intensify.

Large crossbows went flying, anchoring larger ladders with more and more Orcs flooding the premise. One particular shot caused a rope to snap, one of the ladders slowly tilting backwards, falling. You ran forward, shanking an Orc through its head armor.

Your leg continued to throb and sting as you twisted, stabbing and kicking, shoving and growling. There was no end to these Orcs! “Fall back!” You looked back in wonderment as you were all called to retreat. You grimaced as you started to limp backwards.

For you, your chances were small. Orcs were now running towards where you would escape… unless you jumped. It wasn’t too far, but it wasn’t safe. Figuring you had no other choice; you pounced off the wall, having a hard landing near the others.

The rain was easing up as you ran past the Orcs that started to flood the stairs, using your sword to slice at their skin. You slipped past the door, panting heavily as you collapsed against a pillar, far from the entrance. You glanced up at all the people in the chambers; not many.

“(Y/n!)” You heard two familiar voices gasp as Legolas, and Gimli made their way towards you. Legolas was the first to notice your wound as he knelt beside you, putting a gentle hand on your thigh. “You’re wounded.” He whispered. You shooed him off, inspecting the wound. “It is not life threatening. I will be fine.” You whispered, smiling lovingly at the Elf.

Gimli looked between you two, furrowing his bushy brows. “Did I miss something here?” He questioned. You could hear the Orc’s banging something heavy against the doors as you scoffed. “Perhaps.” You smirked.

Legolas and Gimli were helping stack large stacks of wood against the door as you leaned against a pillar, watching. “It is over.” King Théoden spoke. “You said this fortress would never fall while your men defend it!” Aragorn spat as he came over, picking up a bench to hand to Legolas.

“They still defend it. They have died defending it!” You nodded in approval, shooting the King a toxic stare. “Is there no other way for the women and children to get out of the caves?” The warrior asked. Théoden said nothing. “Is there no other way?” Aragorn asked again.

“There is one passage. It leads into the mountains.” The man beside the King spoke. “But they will not get far. The Uruk-hai are too many.” You narrowed your brows. The banging on the door continued. “Send word to the women and children to make for the mountain pass and barricade the entrance!” Aragorn demanded.

There was a pause as the man ran towards the caves. “So much death…” King Théoden whispered. “That is what happens with war.” You hissed, crossing your arms. “What can men do against such reckless hate?” He bitterly growled. “Ride out with me…” Aragorn breathed.

You cocked your head, wringing the water from your dark hair. Ride out with him? “Ride out and meet them.” He insisted. “We would be riding out to our deaths.” You said, limping towards the two. Before they could speak, you cut them off. “But I would not mind if it meant dying beside our Fellowship.” You smiled softly.

“For death and glory…” King Théoden whispered. “For Rohan. For your people.” Aragorn insisted. “The sun is rising.” Gimli said behind you, causing your eyes to look at the Dwarf, then towards the outside. “The horn of Helm Hammerhand shall sound in the Deep one last time.” King Théoden commanded.

Gimli rushed up the stairs towards the large horn, while you were brought your horse. “Ahnvae…” You breathed softly, greeting your midnight black horse with a hug. You jumped up onto the saddle, wincing at your thigh. Legolas’ horse galloped beside yours as he placed his hand gently on yours. He gave you a reassuring smile as you nodded.

“Now for wrath, now for ruin and a red dawn!” The horn sounded loud just as the Orc’s broke through, running into the chambers. “Forth Eorlingas!” The King yelled, raising his sword as you all galloped forward on the horses. You brought down many Orcs as your small army made their way across the causeway.

You paused as you noticed the whitest of horses up top the hill, Gandalf perched on its back. Other fighters soon followed behind him, causing you to sigh in relief. They all started to gallop down the hill, meeting the Orcs in battle. You grinned to your friends, raising your sword in the air in triumph.
