I'm writing a crossover fanfic where Kurama is with someone else, and Hiei is too, yet these kind of fanarts always make me want to turn it around and be like BAM yaoi! lol

Okay! Onto the review. This is carried out stupendously. The shading on the two of them is done in a way that gives the coloring a more grim, gritty appearance, almost like an action movie (Think Kiss of the Dragon or Danny the Dog), making me think that Kurama has just endured some sort of terrible hardship that even he cannot endure and now he has finally cracked. The fact that Hiei is wearing his battle torn under-tunic goes to strengthen this thought idea.
Oh, and the details on their hair? Absolutely, positively perfect. Hiei's hair looks spikey as all get out, and I could almost run my fingers through Kurama's. But what really wins me over are their expressions. Kurama just looks so weary and vulnerable, but not as if he's bawling his eyes out. He looks more like he's slowly coming apart at the seams (will he start really sobbing in Hiei's arms later? I have no doubt he will at this point). Hiei's expression is also utterly delightful, letting Kurama know that he's there for him until he's better, a comrade through and through. Yaoi? Sure, but only if you want it to be. Personally, I say it's up to the viewer's interpretation, but as a person who enjoys both sides, I stand neutral. Interpret it as you will!
But what do I think is the strongest point? It's that Hiei is the one comforting Kurama, and not the other way around. So many times I see Hiei as the uke, and it's high time that Kurama came to him for some relief! Even Kurama has to have some moments where he's vulnerable and depends on Hiei, since a relationship (and I don't necessarily mean a yaoi one here) is about give and take. Makes me think of something I reference in an RP of mine... heh.

It was noted by Yoshihiro Togashi, in an insert segment of Weekly Shōnen Jump, that his first draft of the series would've had Hiei and Kurama in a relationship. However, due to the setbacks that such content had caused in his previous works, he ultimately decided against making them a couple and ultimately had them be close friends. After the end of the manga series, when pressed about their friendship/relationship, and how he ended it in the manga, he admitted that the characters got away from him. He said that although he tried to create female characters for each of them, he couldn't get the chemistry to work right, and ended up concluding that they were in fact more interested in each other than in anyone else.

Haha, there IS a huge size difference, but in reality that kind of thing doesn't matter so much. I'm at least a head taller than my boyfriend, but it's not an issue at all. I constantly forget that he's short because he acts like he's tall. Hiei would have a tall presence too, I think. XD

Honestly, okay, first, I know this is a yaoi couple, and it's supposed to look kind of cute, right? But for some reason, Hiei looks like he's planning to kill Kurama.

I'm typically not a fan of Yaoi. But I can't help but love this drawing. The linework is so well rendered, the expressions are so alive with emotion, and I'm absolutely mesmerized by how you colored it. *finds my eyes inextricably glued to beauteous shades and highlights of Kurama's hair* *_*
