REMARKS - Broadly speaking, people often make all kinds of assumptions, many of them wrong, simply by judging from appearances. This is done all the time and one would be quite wrong to impugn the character or the motives of those who do. With respect to the unusual characters peopling this DA page, one could make MANY such guesses and the likelihood of error would be just as great. Above is pictured a very muscular young man, Dmitri Aleksei, who has recently been brought into this cast. Despite his overall manly appearance, one might, judging from that tiny and rather feminine waist, conclude that perhaps one is possibly dealing with a rather effeminate youngster. Wrong! Like his cousin Valery Aleksandr, Dmitri is almost comically masculine, with a strong baritone voice and a direct, even at times insistent, manner. Far from being shy or embarrassed over his remarkably small 18 inch waist, he accepts his tiny span as a mark of distinction! He readily allows both sexes to span and squeeze it, always enjoying the pressure and attention. Relatives, friends and acquaintances are amazed when he shows with a tape measure that his waist and upper arm girth measure the same! Dmitri sees no contradiction between his incredibly slender-waisted hourglass body contours and his otherwise very masculine, even bold personality. He jokes with his cousins and friends about his "little girly girl" middle and loves to show off his collection of likewise super-small belts and cinches. A rather heavy set young woman in his acquaintance had trouble getting one of his custom made belts around her neck!! She soon became one of his best 'tight holders' and spent hours spanning and squeezing his child sized waist!
Where did the Conan comparison come in? Young Dmitri, then but ten years old, was an avid comic book reader, mostly of adventure or science fiction titles. But when Marvel's "Conan the Barbarian" began publishing in late 1970 it was truly a revelation for him. He best liked the Conan artwork of Barry Windsor Smith, whose depiction of the youthful marauder and swordsman was both muscular and elegant. He had less praise for the later, cruder, versions by Val Mayerik and others but liked his portrayal of Belit, the exotically brunette Shemite sea pirate. Dmitri would buy almost anything Conan and played the role to the hilt, almost with embarrassing gusto it seemed to his sister Demetria. But she was a good sport and, having a 'killer' body herself, would play dress up as Belit or some other exotic female from that mythological age.
Despite a nearly eight year age difference, Dmitri took his young cousin Sergei 'under his wing' so to speak. Sergei was in awe of his older cousin's 'miniature middle' and secretly yearned to be as tiny. In fact, later on, both young men would engage in a friendly rivalry over who could get smaller waisted. They themselves and close friends called such a contest "war of the waistlines" or "Waist Wars", a take on the popular "Star Wars" movies. They both reduced by several inches, with Dmitri, at one point, sporting an unbound midsection taping but 14 inches around! Such a wasp waist rivalry will appear in subsequent postings. WWl
