Description

Mayumi learned that the boy is Arai, Haurhi's middle school friend. She ignored the trio's looks of dislike and instead walked up and introduce herself to the boy politely. As they take time to get reacquainted, Tamaki is depressed, having been called "an acquaintance" instead of Haruhi's senpai. Mayumi reminds them that she doesn't call anyone senpai, it just sounds weird to her. Tamaki looks even more depressed. Mayumi offers to cover Haruhi if she wants to sit and visit with Arai.

Hikaru asks why she's so eager to help Haruhi hang out with her friends yet she thinks it's weird about him wanting to know where she is. She brings out the lemonade she made. She noticed Hikaru still shooting looks at Aria and that Kyoya, Hunny and Mori have arrived. She rested her chin in her palm. "Hikaru, why do you have that look?"

Hikaru says that Haruhi is supposed to be their friend. Why is she wanting to waste her time with him? Mayumi mutters how he's as controlling of Haruhi as he is her. Hikaru insist it's not controlling to know where she is 24/7. Mayumi argues that people can be on their own once and a while and be around other people. Hikaru shouts at her she has him and their other friends. Why should others be in their lives! He then runs off mad.

Kaoru chases after him up the stairs. Mayumi follows to where the twins went. She leans her ear to the door.

She hears Hikaru say that he doesn’t know if he likes her or not. Things get worse, so Kaoru and Miyuki come up with a plan to have Hikaru and Mayumi go on a date.

After a few rocky spots, the two start to have fun. Then Arai comes, asking if they’d like a ride home, but Hikaru refuses and runs off with Mayumi yelling, “Don’t leave me alone!”

As the thunderstorm came, the host club learned of what happened. Kaoru calls Hikaru and tells him to go find Mayumi. He also says of what Mayumi told them at the beach, that she’s afraid of being abandoned by her friends, and that she probably feels that’s what happened.

Hikaru runs all over town, looking for Mayumi. He stops at a church were he hears soft singing. He goes in to see Mayumi sitting under the alter, singing to comfort herself. He sits down next to her, and repeatedly apologizes, with Mayumi thanking him. And they fall asleep.
