Oh yeah, Wayne!Β  That's what I'm talking about! Β  An old farmstead with a falling down old barn in the summertime?Β  Nothing better in my mind!Β  It's kind of sad though--one of these days whoever owns that barn will probably knock it down & haul off all that great old wood to the landfill or just put a torch to it.Β  It's far beyond any kind of repair but that wood could live again as something else.

They do create a good Picture John, and I bet you see a lot of them.Β  Someday it would be great top travel some of the roads you have been on with time to stop and take some shots.

Yup!Β  I agree with that, Wayne.Β  I'm planning a 2 week back roads trip for around mid-March and go down some roads in Wyoming, Nebraska and South DakotaΒ I know of but haven't been on since I was in my 20s.Β  Hopefully some of those old farmsteads and ranches are still there--but I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't.

lol... well I don't know, it kind of also helps to keep us in place.Β  maybe if we could invent selective gravity it might work better.

4-5 feet, wow!Β  We got way too much of your cold air but thank goodness not the snow.Β  We had a foot last month in one storm but a couple of warm days and rain finished it off.Β  The cold air, after being here for weeks, is finally moving on to the east with some spring-like weather predicted for next week.
This is a wonderful image, just like a lot of old folks, down in the back.Β

this has been a heavy snow year for us.Β  We had three blizzard in one week.Β  I have not seen this amount of snow since 2000.Β  I hope the melt is slow.Β  If not I could have a water problem this spring.

We could sure use that 5 feet of snow in our California Mountains.Β  There has to be a way to import it.Β  After all we import everything else.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WayneBenedet In reply to Mac-Wiz [2014-02-11 13:49:04 +0000 UTC]

lol... in my opinion, you are welcome to it.Β  There is no talk of provincial flooding, but there is more snow in this area than I have seen in the last 14 years, and we had overland flooding that time.Β  We have re-landscaped which I hope fixed the problem, but it has not been tested.

I really love the shot, but one thing I notice is there is a lot of noise in the image. In Photoshop, you're able to remove noise straight from it, which is super helpful. But when I remove noise from my pictures, I normally do it through Camera Raw, but it's just a preference. Great shot nonetheless! Β

WayneBenedet In reply to pureoptic [2014-02-11 03:05:15 +0000 UTC]

thanks for your comment Drew, you could try adjusting your monitor.Β  A properly balanced and corrected and high end monitor is essential for viewing fine detail.Β  (FYI.. this is only a small portion of the actual image, the full tiff version processed from the raw file that is 704 megs in size, processed in CS5)

pureoptic In reply to WayneBenedet [2014-02-13 14:27:32 +0000 UTC]

I think it's just seeing the small portion, it's a little zoomed in. It's still a great image! I would love to see a full-screen version. Β

Likely so.. but down there..they MAY have 2 snowshovels and one plow in the whole state.. poor buggers are gettin nailed today with an ice storm.. really catastrophic actually...

I know that people arn't able to handle that kind of weather because they just don't get it.Β  (it make no sense to have the necessary equipment and then only need it once in 30 years). I hope it warms up for them soon and that there is minimal damage from the ice.

I'm waiting to see on the news how bad it was there... I'm betting it was pretty bad.... hope not..but.. that's my guess

WayneBenedet In reply to davincipoppalag [2014-02-13 15:01:57 +0000 UTC]

lets keep hope for now.

We got dumped again last night, but it is just snow, it can be moved and won't damage anything.Β  I am however beginning to worry about the melt.Β  No concerns for provincial flooding, but rather local.Β  The last time we had this much snow we had water at the back door.
