RUN by: Blueskye27

once, we were a
clean, bright dream
of new paint and
smooth angles

on a run into tomorrow
when the world
seemed as new
as we were

we laughed and
loved and put
the top down
in the rain

but we ran
too far, too fast,
losing each other at
a blind curve

now alone, we succumb,
our dream
a rusting hulk
in a forgotten field

as the road runs on
without us

Thanks Cindy, I really appreciate this.

Sorry about the re-post, but I have been experimenting with this image. One of the issues for me was how dark it was printing, so to correct that I moved it into CMYK and adjusted the Hue, Saturation and Lightness. That created some unexpected positive effects, so I decided to exchange the original. Over all, I have been trying to get an image that looks more like a water colour than a photograph.

If you have a mind to.. let me know what you think.

Ah, this reminds me of the old (though none of them quite that old) vehicles, I used to stumble upon out in the mountains of Montana when I was a kid. Including one car that was so thoroughly surrounded by trees, I'm not even sure how they drove it in there in the first place.

Awesome! Β

I may have mentioned Devil's Chin, a place where we kids went to ages ago (back in the 1980s) to get away from parents, rules, and the rest of the incomprehensible world. Β There were a pair of rusted out classic cars there, not like this one, but more like 50s or 60s ... but they had the same reverence since it was a highly wooded place to find them. Β

It sounds like a great place.

It was ... since most of these places are gone on St. Simons Island, the memories are even more treasured than ever before. Β I have found other places that have the same sort of feel, but there is nothing like the original. Β

I have added your poem to the picture and atlached your icon also so people can find you easily.

DB ridding the world of tons of zombies?

WayneBenedet In reply to Blueskye27 [2009-04-21 13:15:13 +0000 UTC]

lol....

no zombies this time.

I was amused by how he picked the game.

He called Orca over and told him to sit. Then he bent over with a game in each hand and told Orca to shake a paw. Orca lifted his left paw and hit the game in DB's right hand..... the hero in the game is a wolf.... now how is that for a smart dog????

So this is the one he is playing.

I think the colour is better this time 'round.
But it has a sort of "worked over" look to it?
Maybe soften it a bit? (And with my eyesight I rarely suggest such a thing!)

This piece has an interesting texture to it, and I love the detail you can see in all the branches and vegetation.

WayneBenedet In reply to tedzerds21 [2009-04-17 22:32:23 +0000 UTC]

thanks,

You will need to take another look. I reworked it in a different colour space to take advantage of some subtle differences. I like what has changed.

The texture is burlap and it was added in a single white layer above all the other mods.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tedzerds21 In reply to WayneBenedet [2009-04-17 23:42:27 +0000 UTC]

I think, and this is true for what you had before, but it does have a "painted" quality to it, especially in the grass - they do look like brush strokes. The whole piece also seems brighter and more vibrant in colour.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WayneBenedet In reply to tedzerds21 [2009-04-18 00:02:07 +0000 UTC]

thanks,

it also prints MUCH better. To me, the screen only goes so far, it is how something looks on paper that is the determining factor becasue so much of what I do ends up there. It could still be tweaked a bit, but for now I will leave it alone. I have learned a fair bit out of this exercise, and it will help for the future.
