Shetani's family were members of a low ranking pride, thus she was born in a desolate land with not enough food or water for the lions living in those lands. She grew up in a harsh world and this caused her to hate royal lions and monarchs. Reaching adulthood, she decided to leave her pride so that she won't burden them anymore and began life as a rogue. She wandered around Iphaladisi but was constantly chased off by other lions.

Eventually she came upon a lion named Boipelo who told her about the pride known as Shadowlanders and offered her a chance to join them. At first Shetani was hesitant, believing this to be part of Iphaladisi's monarchy but it was not the case. Shadowlanders would overthrow the kings and queens of Iphaladisi and gain more suitable territory for their pride. Shetani was intrigued by this and agreed to join.
She soon proved herself to be a loyal Shadowlander and accepted Udomo as her leader, vowing to follow Udomo no matter what. Shetani spent her days fighting against enemies of the Shadowlanders, letting years of rage and hatred out against them. Boipelo was the one who she was paired up with constantly and they were an intimidating battle couple. Eventually they grew closer and soon became mates.

The Shadowlander conquerors were eventually put to an end by the Kulinda Pride and Shetani among with her pride were banished. With this defeat, Shetani switched her focus from fighting against the monarchs to ensuring the Shadowlander's survival by teaching the less experienced ways on how to find food in the barren lands. News came to the Shadowlanders of a place called the Pridelands. It was no Iphaladisi, but it was far better than the lands they were currently living in. Shetani had faith that Udomo would be able to defeat and overthrow the current king, Mufasa. To her complete shock, Mufasa defeated Udomo during a battle and banished them from the Pridelands.

Shetani and the rest of the Shadowlanders were reassured by Udomo that one lost battle did not mean the end of their plans. A new plan will be set in motion, thanks to the king's traitorous brother, Scar, and his mate, Zira.
Hearing their plan, Shetani soon felt something she had never felt during her days as a fighter in Iphaladisi...doubt and uneasiness.
She had no qualm against getting rid of Mufasa...but getting rid of the prince Simba, an innocent young cub...it did not suit well for her. The death of an innocent cub was not the only thing that bothered Shetani. She had a very bad feeling against the two betrayers, Scar and Zira. Something about them wasn't right and it made her dislike them from the start.

Still, Udomo trusted these two and they had promised them a new homeland in the Pridelands...surely whatever he decides it'll be bet the best for the Shadowlanders. Surely Udomo is right in trusting these two...
