Story:
  Cub – Sarafina and her family already lived in the Pride Lands, with her father being one of the guard members during Ahadi's reign. Though she was older than her sister, she was painfully shy and quiet, preferring to listen rather than speak during conversations. It was so rare that she would speak up, it often surprised the other conversationalists, who usually assumed she was mute. It also surprised other lions that she was so knowledgeable; not that they thought she was dumb, but that they didn't realize she had been listening when they least expected it. However, she was a terrible secret-keeper, feeling guilty about them, especially when it involved another. This lead her to having a bit of a bad reputation. But when Sarabi and her family visited the Pride Lands, she and her sisters befriended Sarafina, even in spite of her flaws.

  Adolescent – As they all grew older, Sarabi took Sarafina under her wing, helping her to be more confident and speak up for herself. She was also quickly becoming one of Pride Lands' the best huntresses due to her surprising and sudden prowess. This came from her longest and best-kept secret: a rogue, who had been rescued from a tree fall by the guard as a cub, and that she had been secretly meeting. When it became known that Askari had tried to run off a rogue, and was gravely injured because of it, she panicked. Though Tangamana denied being the one to injure the prince, despite sporting relatively fresh wounds, Sarafina convinced him to leave for his own safety; even if Askari's rogue wasn't being taken seriously at the moment, they may change their minds later. Even Askari might have a secret vendetta against rogues.

  Adult - It was mere weeks after Tangamana leaving when Sarafina discovered she was pregnant. She talked to Mufasa and Sarabi, who had been crowned king and queen during that time, and explained her situation. Mzanga, one of Askari's guard members, happened to overhear the conversation. He offered to claim her cub as his own, having had a crush on her in the past. She accepted gratefully, and when Nala was born, Mufasa offered a betrothal between her and his future son, which she also accepted. Between this betrothal, being a mate of a guard member—eventually bearing his son—and a high-ranking huntress, she became an important and respected member of the pride. Despite her mate, king, and crown prince dying, she kept her held up high, and took it upon herself to look after all of the cubs of the kingdom, not trusting Scar or his followers. But everything took its slow toll on her, causing her to become increasingly paranoid and distrustful; especially after the male cubs, including Mheetu, had to be smuggled out of the Pride Lands, and Nala being banished as a result. She rarely gave out her trust to lions she wasn't very close to unless they proved themselves of it. Even after Simba and Nala returned, took back the kingdom, and chased Scar and anyone affiliated with him away, she had reverted back to her quiet personality, but worse.

With the addition to the "adolescent" section of the characters' stories, it gives me more leg room to flesh out their... well, stories XD One such example is Sarafina. I've added a bit of context to her story, and a few new additions as well. It was always my plan to have Tangamana, aka Tanglemane (the inspiration for his real name comes from Kirroc 's own interpretation of the character) to be Nala's father--once I've made his bio and story, I'll explain my thought process behind it--and I originally planned for Mheetu to be his son. But then I realized the timeline wouldn't really work, since I wanted them to be from two different births. Not to mention since a rogue had injured Scar, and later killed Uru, the pride would be on the sharpest lookout for rogues, thus Tangamana having to leave. But that left the question of who Mheetu's father would be.

Then I had an idea: have one of Scar's guard members volunteer to claim Nala as his own, so Sarafina wouldn't be looked at with such suspicion, especially from his own leader; later, they would fall in love, and have a cub between the two of them. This would mean me having to shift around timelines from TLG, but I've already taken liberties from that show anyway. Looking at the different members, I chose Scar's Strongest, whom I've named Mzanga. I was actually debating on him or Scar's Keenest of Sight, since he has green eyes, but I ultimately chose Mzanga, as a bit of an Easter egg to Nala's eyes shifting from green to blue.

There's another part of Sarafina's story that I added, and it pertains to her status being "unknown". But that'll have to wait until later... a few lions later, in fact
