  Cub – Like with Kovu, Vitani only knew Zira as her mother, and the rest of the Outsiders as her family. She was far more feisty than her brother, loving to play-fight with anything and anyone; she gets twitchy if she sits still for too long. She was often exasperated with Nuka's jealousy of Kovu's role as Scar's heir. But she was secretly jealous that her brother was able to take a few pawsteps into the Pride Lands. While Kovu had found out about his parentage from overhearing Nuka ranting about how though he was “The Chosen One”, he wasn't even Scar's real son, she had always suspected as such. She and Kovu didn't resemble Nuka, who was Scar's son, and since he said Scar died when he was a little older than them, the timing didn't make sense. She even wondered if they weren't Zira's cubs in the first place, but never asked.
  Adolescent – Vitani became more vicious with age. Zira had seen her potential, and talked to her about becoming the leader of her own lion guard, just as Scar had been. As a lion guard leader was known as The Fiercest, it fit her daughter perfectly. She was instructed to choose those she trusted and thought worthy of the other positions in her group; all the while, backpedaling into reminding Vitani—and maybe herself—that it was merely a suggestion. While she followed Zira loyally, she didn't take her ideas of a lion guard team of her own too seriously. It all seemed like cub's play. But as she heard more stories about it, as well as spies returning with stories of Kion's training to be leader of the lion guard himself, she began to have second thoughts. She picked four of her friends whom she thought fit the positions, and told them what she knew about the group. She decided not tell anyone else, least of all Zira; she wanted to go about this on her own, without her mother breathing down her neck or “suggesting” how to do things.

  Adult – The ideas of Vitani leading her own lion guard were put on hold following the conclusion of the Pridelander and Outsider war, and Zira's subsequent suicide. Even if everyone eventually realized what a horrible leader and mother she was, they still mourned what they remembered; Vitani took it the hardest. She busied herself with teaching Kiara to fight, under Kovu's request. It was the most she could do for her, since she was the one to bring the war to an end. She told her what she knew of the lion guard after Vitani expressed interest, and encouraged her to form her own, even if Kion and his guard weren't around to pass on their titles—they had left to go to the Tree of Life, reviving an old tradition Scar had ended, before the war. Vitani would give her life to protect her new family, since they had given her and the Outsiders a new outlook on life, and so much more. Though she was still feisty, her viciousness had toned down, and she became more sarcastic and witty. She didn't care too much that the Pridelanders were slower to accept her than with Kovu; she had her lion guard, brother, and future sister-in-law for company. That was more than enough.

I think I said before, but Vitani's the most interesting in terms of character design, beyond her fluff of hair and purplish-blue eyes (which are still blue); and by interesting beyond that, I mean she has the most inconsistent character traits between her cub and adult self. It's mostly in the face. As a cub, she has a thick fluff of hair, no ear linings, smooth eyebrows, pointed cheeks, and a rounded chin; then, as an adult, her hair is flatter, she suddenly has ear linings, her eyebrows look like barbed wire, her cheeks are rounded, and she has a tiny pointing-backwards goatee, plus freckles under her nose. I don't know WHAT happened behind-the-scenes, with the character refs and whatnot. They got Kovu and Kiara's cub and adult forms similar to each other, what happened to Vitani? At least in TLG, they somewhat tried to follow her cub design, except she has very exotic-looking eyes, her eye lining colors change from single-colored to double-colored, not counting the eyelids, she gets a pompadour-looking hairstyle, and still gets freckles out of nowhere.

So, like before, I picked traits I liked between her cub and adult forms, and used them in the final design. I think her pointed cheeks and ear linings really make her look related to Kovu, I much prefer the thicker hair she had as a cub, the scruffy eyebrows look good on her, and the freckles are a nice touch.

I thought about it more, and decided that one reason that could explain Vitani becoming leader of her own lion guard, besides a suggestion from Kiara, would be that Zira pretty much talked her into it, with the logic that once Kovu was king, he would need a lion guard. Obviously, Vitani would be the best for it since Nuka was super incompetent, but her being younger than Kovu would also add to that reasoning. Not to mention how nasty she is in a fight. I feel like in the beginning, Vitani wouldn't take a lion guard too seriously, but would warm up to it after hearing about Kion and his own guard. And once the Outsiders are welcomed into the Pridelands, and Kovu is set to become prince-consort in the future, she would be encouraged to form a lion guard again, though from a place of heart rather than revenge this time.

There's a bit of lore about the lion guard teased in Vitani's adult section, with the journey to the Tree of Life being a tradition, and the whole guard passing down their positions to the next. It'll all be explained a bit more once Kion's profile is created and posted (which will be after Zira and Nuka; the Outsiders will be getting their own submission chunk after the TLG chunk)
