Name Meaning: Love brings joy (Yoruba)

Status: Guard Trainee of the Whistling Creek Pride, Guard Captain of the Grassy Peaks Pride

Relations: Former advisor/guard to Malka , Former mate to Gimbya

Summary: Ifetoyo is born from an average pridesister with an average Guard father in a large pride in the middle of a generation gap, with all lions much older or younger than him. Needlesss to say he ends up mostly alone and blending into the throng with little place or chance of being anything more. He could train to be a Guard but Kiza, the current Consort, is Captain with his son to take the role after him, so he'd never be more than an average member amongst them. He’s not bad in the hunt but the pride already has enough hunters in the now expanded land. That and the Head Huntress is held by the Queen’s best friend who was already training her own niece to take over so he’ll only have an average rank. He could leave but he’s heard the stories of what life outside the pride is like, along with knowing how slim his chances are of forming and keeping a pride and land. So he sits and stews in frustration at his stagnant future that had been all settled the day he was born.

  The only relief is his friendship with the princess. She is the closest cub in age to him, still younger by a few years but bright, sweet personality makes up for it. Like him she always worries over her future role, of blending into the back and never contributing, and though they both have a family to love them, its nice to share it with one who understands. So Ifetoyo ends up in the company of the princess, her only companion outside her family and as he becomes older her personal guard as he trains with the other Guards. Its not much of a step up in role but Gimbya makes it worth it.

  Then the day comes that its decided to trade off Gimbya to Grassy Peaks Pride to solidify there continued alligance. Ifetoyo worries over loosing his one and only friend, of finding himself alone with his stagnated role. Thus when its made apparent she will need a guard to go with her and protect her in her new home, one that will help in training up their own Guard, Ifetoyo leaps at the chance. He doesn’t care they will train him harshly for his role, the chance to stay with Gimbya and have a chance at becoming something more in a new pride, well, no way he’s passing that up.

  In the next couple years while Gimbya is trained up, so is Ifetoyo, though his training is far more grueling. He must be in perfect physical condition, unhesitant to throw his life away for his princess and skilled in taking out lions that are older and bigger then him. But he is determined and by the end the royals are satisfied with both young lions and soon Ifetoyo is accompanying Gimbya to Grassy Peaks. There are goodbyes of course, tear filled ones with family, but Ifetoyo soon turns his back to all this in hope of his shining future.

  Soon they are introduced to the royals along with Gimbya’s bethrothed. At first Ifetoyo doesn’t see much out of Malka, thinking he must be stupid to get lost so frequently and annoyed with they idea he’ll likely have to trail after him. But Malka is sweet, brave and so dang enduring they are soon close friends, Ifetoyo finds himself looking forward to each new day in the company of his two best friends. But his duties aren’t just following after royalty, Ifetoyo is young but quick to take up his other task. He starts instructing the royals on how to form and maintain a Border Guard, helping access and train the recruits. He gains respect from the pride, more then he’d ever have in his old one, he basks proudly in what he’s accomplished. Its no surprise that once the fighting force is fully ready and presented before the royals, Ifetoyo is given the honor Captain, highest rank outside royalty and not a soul against this. But even as he gladly accepts this role, he’s made aware of something troubling with his friends.

  They have grown too, now near adulthood and it seems that their betrothal is no longer one of obligation. Ifetoyo can clearly see the pair like each other, well learned and nearly grown they will soon be married and be glad for it. A little spark of jealousy forms at the sight of them, for he has harbored feeling for Gimbya for a while and more then that knowing he will again be passed over and forgotten. No matter what he does he can never compare to the royals, he was not born into it so he’ll always be an outsider looking on while his friends become more.

  But he tries to not let it get to him, he does love them and he reminds himself he is respected and loved by the pride in turn. He is after all awarded blessings the other members of the pride aren’t, they trust him dearly and include him as much as possible for it. So he pushes that to the side and vows to be happy for his friends and count the blessing he has, he has all he could need and they are to thank for it after all. No point in pining what will never be yours when you already have so much after all.

  The day comes that Malka will wed Gimbya and they will rule the pride, Ifetoyo allowed to sit upfront amongst the royals in honor of his position, trying to focus on that then small bitterness at seeing Gimbya married off. But when Malka is asked to step forward with Gimbya, to everybodies surprise Malka refuses. He then goes on this great speech about being honest with his feelings and not being worthy of his station. Ifetoyo has no clue what he’s on about so when Malka announces he’s in love with both Gimbya and Ifetoyo, well the lion in question is dumbstruck. He now understand the strange sappy looks and awkward moments that Malka now had over the last few years but he’s not sure what to make of his best friend’s confession. Well Gimbya has a solution, that they are married to each other, Malka of course holding the throne with the other two his consorts. Well this is unusal and when the pair offer it Ifetoyo he finds he doesn’t mind the idea, its odd but Malka has always been odd and it will mean he’ll be a honorary royal alongside his friends. He won’t be left behind and forgotten, he’ll get to stand with them from now until the day there titles are passed. Best yet he'll get to be with Gimbya officially, not left to e be jealous and pining. Yeah, he can give this a try and soon the ceremony commences, the crowd confused but okay with this arrangement.

And thus the lion from average background with predictable future finds something extrodinary. The respect of a pride, a job he enjoys and most of all the joy of finding love with a lioness once off limits. To be with his two best friends one who made sure he was not forgotten. It should have been enough but it turns out to be too good to e true. And ends in disaster.

He got a major overhaul in design, one I'm mostly happy with. I like how his mane and face came out but there is something off about his body I can't quite place. I kep messing with it before I opted to settle, he's not a majorly important character after all so he can look a bit off if everything else is fine.
Aout hhis bio, I kept imagining him to be a little more ambitious and self-centered then expected. Its not a bad thing, he keeps those things in check by not letting jealousy in but it interesting how that's what his character turned out to be. Also his bio is far too long but you should be use to that.
