Name: Azwel
Name Meaning: Africanized version of “as well”
Status: Rogue, Cubsitter/Border Warrior (Pridelands), Founder and King of the Skyvalley Pride
Relations: Mate to Sarafina then Hasna, father of Nala and Mheetu
Summary: Azwel grew up in a small family pride that was always on the move at the risk of coming into conflict with other prides. So not only did Azwel learn to be adaptive and resourceful out on the savannah, but also longing for stability and peace a pride life can bring. So when he’s old enough, Azwel leaves his family behind and sets out to find a permanent pride. But this proves to be difficult for other males only see him as a threat, only there to steal their lionesses and territory. And although Azwel could easily dispatch them with his great skill in battle, he simply lacks the heart, too sympathetic to fight back and preferring to run. It is some year later when he makes his way into the Pridelands, but hesitates as he has heard rumors about the powerful king who rules the lands. So he sticks to the border, scavenging and attempting to stay out the prides way, hoping to find a means to join. His answer comes unrepentantly, when he one day hears the cries of a lioness. Upon following the sound he discovers a lioness being attacked by hyenas. Azwel dispatches them, saving the lioness who introduces herself as Sarafina. Thus do the pair gain a friendship, both enamored with the other and their way of life. But it doesn’t last long as the hyenas, miffed and seeking revenge, ambush Azwel and send him running, the experience nearly killing him.
Azwel wanders for a bit, growing in size and maturity, returning some years later out of curiosity. By some bit of luck, he encounters Sarafina, now grown and matured herself. Greatly relieved and still holding old regrets and feelings for him, Sarafina implores him to become her mate. She encourages him further by implying that she is friends with the current King and Queen, Mufasa and Sarabi, that surely they will let him become permanent member of the pride. Azwel, of course, agrees enthusiastically.
After a romantic night on the border, the pair returns home and as Sarfina expected, Mufasa and Sarabi welcome them into the fold. Further more, Mufasa and Azwel become very close friends, the pair often seen joking and chatting as they patrol the borders.
But alas, his relationship with Sarafina does not last as the pair have little in common, the brief puppy love fading even after the pair conceive a daughter, Nala. So the pair separate, though they agree to both help in raising Nala. In the mean time, Azwel finds true love in a simple pride sister, Hasna, marrying her and producing a son, Mheetu, some time later. With a more established life and Mufasa taking care of the borders, Azwel resigns to cubsitter to spend more time with his children. To make certain they have the chance at a happy stable life.

*EDIT* Changed his pelt color to be more red so that to get away from the fact he and Hasna had very similar colors and create some variety between him and Mheetu. And it occurred to me that the majority of his life was spent in Sky Valley so I wanted his Background to reflect that. *EDIT*
Finally can start getting around to doing Bios for my other characters now that I have a computer at home. First up is my boy Azwel. I've made a few changes to this guy over all, mostly to his color (darker version of Nala's), gave him Nala's eye color from the 2nd movie, thought it would be a nice addition. Also attempted to make him look more shaggy with extra fur in places to give you that idea that he did come from rouge decent. But I also wanted to give him the feeling of a Gentlemen as that that what he is at heart.
I write his Bio one day, but not now. So enjoy him as is.
