I thought it would be interesting to play around with designs for a "robot language".

A lot of robots in television speak in something similar to binary... in which case, how would that be represented visually? Wouldn't the visual representation be logical and orderly too, instead of going through the long, random, abstract development our written languages have gone through?

I used to design computers, so I see exactly what you mean. What's nice about these symbols is that they have a lot of redundancy. They could still be "read" even if parts of the image was corrupted. And you can automatically tel which direction they are supposed to be read.

Interesting concept! Plus these symbols are rather attractive.
