Some like to watch gladiators fighting in an arena, some others the knights during a tournament, but did you ever watch a FREAKIN’ TWILI MAGIC DEBATE, MATE???
After I posted this picture (www.deviantart.com/webmegami/a… ), Lineith and I started to joke about how the different followers of the Sages would fight each other sometimes because their ways of living and experimenting magic can be much different. Which brought me to some more Twili headcanons :
It is a common thing for citizens of the Twilight Realm to attend debates between scholars and other magic experts. Twili have a very good educative system and every Twili (even non-magic users) are taught the basics of magic or the use of artefacts and ingredients for various reasons. Therefore, watching a magic debate is like an entertainment, I mean… who doesn’t want to watch two scholars fighting over what is the best technique to cook meat with a fire sigil? It even can end by a real spells fight!
To watch such a nice spectacle, you shall visit the Hall of the Sages!
This comic is a good occasion introduce two new characters: Master Wudna (3rd panel), very known for her hot-blooded temper and experiments in various domains of magic, and Great Archivist Xokurr (last panel), the friendly judge of those debates. He shares the duty with two other attendants in order to decide which magic or technic will make it to the archives of the Twilight Realm and be allowed for the common use.

I once tried to have a magic debate in a DND game once. I started improve magic theory names and books, the other player got super made and said it was unfair that I knew so much about the lore of DND. I had to tell him I just made everything up just to make the roleplay feel more authentic.
God I love small details like that. Good job on including them here.

i love how lively you've made the twili. In the games they're described as being placid and docile, extremely so in fact ... the only ones who even have personality are Midna and Zant. I get that that's because they're main characters .. but they seriously couldn't give the restored twili lines after you change them back from being monsters? You'd think they'd be really grateful to you. Language barrier isn't a problem, Midna and Zant both communicate with hylians perfectly fine. Zant speaks to ganondorf before even being exposed to hyrule at all. It just kinda irks me.
But this is a fantastic interpretation ^^ it gives them so much more life. They don't have wars and such, but that doesn't mean they can't argue and have disagreements with one another. Them being heavily magic based also fits with their history, they were originally powerful magic users and magic craftsman after all before they got kicked out into the twilight realm. Granted they got kicked out because they abused the power they had and attempted to control the sacred realm >>; ...yeeaaahh.. not a good plan there interlopers...
But with that in mind it makes sense the twili wouldn't forgo magic altogether, but rather have more rigid rules about what should or shouldn't be used as far as magic goes. Overstepping their bounds got them into trouble in the first place, they're not about to make that mistake again .. even if they don't remember that mistake. I'm fairly certain only the twili royal family know about the history of the twili and the interlopers.
That could lead to some interesting things. The younger twili who want to broaden their horizons and test out different magic techniques and see just what can be done. They've no idea why the older twili are so vehemently against this.

And to be honest, those theories were part of my headcanons as well (like with the age gap and the rigidity of rules shown in the comic) so no worry. XD

Honestly I personally would love attending these debates - the idea of watching a bunch of highly intelligent eloquently insult each others magic skills sounds hilarious. Beautiful artwork as always web, Yzei is so handsome when he smiles!
