I am just rediscovering the beauty of this shot and am very touched by the story about your father, too. No downloads from your trip to the North Sea yet, I see. Well, I shall be patient.

It's worth going there!!! It's between Scherpenzeel and Renswoude. The way to this bird reservation is
a walking route, called "Klompenpad".

Is this part of a lake or a river. Peaceful.

Sorry for the late, late answer. No it's not a river or a lake it's a moor. A great place to be. There also was a very thin layer of ice on the water. It's a place birds like to be.

He's 88 now and that's the reason he won't recover very much. No intensive revalidation program for him, but only some therapy.
He won't be able to walk anymore, no more trips to the shops on his bike!! But in the near future I will ride him to the shops in Marjolein's wheelchair.

It is so good that he has a kind daughter You hear come dreadful stories of how some people cannot be bothered with their aged parents, stick them in a home and then forget them.

Yes, indeed, I can see that in the apartment building where my father lives!!!
Yesterday he was very depressed and slept almost the whole day. Sometimes he opened his eyes and said to my daughter and me
'I'm death'. Made us cry. But later we talked with him and a nurse. Today a nurse told us that she had a talk with him, he was feeling
very depressed, and when we came into his room, he was sitting in a wheelchair next to the window (3rd floor), with a straight back and his eyes wide
open!!! Unbeleavable! Since this morning he good see again. And he's got to practise with his left eye (cannot see anything what's on his left side).
They put his bed along the wall so that he is forced to look to the left. Tomorrow he wants to have some coffee in the restaurant of the
hospital!!! I wonder what he will be like tomorrow...

It is going to be hard for you as well as your dad. You will feel so helpless when he gets depressed. I hope that you can stay strong dear Rettie.

Thanks Eve for helping me with your sweet words!! I do appreciate it.
Monday he was depressed, yesterday he was fine and today he was depressed again.
Tomorrow we are having an appointment with the neurologist.
Wonder what he will say about it. Rettie

I am thinking of you a lot as I can relate to how your father is. My dad was the same and you feel so helpless. Mum has been limited to what she can do for over a week and I can see her getting depressed at times. However, after three sessions with the physiotherapist the pain is so much less.

I told my dad that my friend in Australia knows about his stay in the hospital after his attack.
He was pleasantly surprised. And it really helps me to know that you are thinking of me!!
This week was so hard. So many ups and downs. On Monday he said that he was dead, Tuesday (after a good talk with one of the nurses (they are so sweet and understanding in this hospital) he was feeling so much better, but 2 bad days followed. And today he could sit on the edge of his bed without help (of course they had to help him with getting up). I was so proud of him!!! After the weekend they will help him to try to stand on his feet!! He had a shower and shaved himself (electrical). Hopefully he will feel like this tomorrow too, but I know that he can feel depressed too.

I'm glad to hear that your mom is having less pain than she had before! She really is a very strong woman, isn't she!!! I wish her all the best to get better soon.
Please give her my love from out of the Netherlands again!!!!

Yesterday Mum's pain came back quite badly, so she will need more physio on Monday. We are taking her out for the day, for a birthday treat. It is her 92nd birthday and she would rather go out than have a gift. We are borrowing a wheelchair from the hospital and taking her on a tree-top walk. No doubt I will take pictures

My Mum's birthday is today and I will certainly send on your best wishes to her when she gets up. We had to take her out yesterday as she has a physio appointment today and I have an important meeting too.

We had wonderful weather for our outing and Jim managed to push Mum up into the top of the trees. I still have your email address to I will email you a photo. I might put a couple in my scraps too, but I'll let you know when I've done that. We also enjoyed an animal farm where we had lunch and fed some goats, cows, alpaca's and a donkey.

You're up early again!!! Congretulations!!!! Indeed, I thought your mom's birthday was yesterday!
"push Mum up into the top of the trees" !!!! I can see Jim doing it!!!! I'm glad I know that it was a tree-top walk!
Would love to see a photo of the walk. Sounds as if you had a very pleasant day, with the tree-walk, the animal farm and a lunch! So much nicer than a 'normal' present!! I would prefer a present like this too.
Hope you'll have a nice day today too!
Rettie
