Yes, he really is dignified.
I very much like this portrait. His expression is so friendly too; it's almost as if we're catching a rare glimpse of when he doesn't have his defenses up. Perhaps he's thinking of the friends he's recently gained. I also loved the textures and just your general style. It seems so crisp and fresh.
An extra bonus point for the oriental origami pattern in the back. I remember in the third game Edgeworth mentions a liking for old, traditional things (it made me like him even more because I do, too).
This picture made me really happy. Thanks for the smile and keep it up!

Oh wow, I didn't know you had to have a "premium account" to write a "formal critique"... I thought a subscription was only necessary for the requesting of critiques... either way, needing to pay dA to "have access to critique" is stupid, but whatever, there's still good ol' fashioned comments.
~RBTR said the shading on his face looked off... I think it's because the highlight/shine on his skin is so much brighter/more noticeable than the other highlights, and it looks (at least to me) as though the light is coming from behind his hair because the hair's casting no shadow on his face. Other than that, an awesome piece. Very well done, and nice style. Great detail on the background too. Matches the old-fashioned elegance that Edgeworth displays.

I do see what you mean by the shadows on his skin; I was going for a 'classical lighting' approach but it seems I still have a lot to learn XD ... also, the highlights on his left were added as an after-thought to make him stand out better from the bg (along with that light border around the entire figure), but looking at it now I can see how you'd think it was a light source. that was a bit random/careless of me, I just thought it looked better for some reason
