A critique should include both those things the viewer likes or appreciates along with those that he does not; praise and (constructive) criticism. In this instance though I cannot find fault!
Composition, colour, tone and setting are all superb but what really stands out is the rather excellent application of aperture control to create that very narrow, tightly controlled area of sharp focus. Two areas of the main subject catch the eye immediately, First the crispness of the chain ring at the top of the watch and secondly the slight fading of focus at the right edge of the watch which somehow sets the imagination going.
Others have mentioned the story they see in this picture and I lack the ability to better their appraisals. I guess everyone will see something different in this image ... it has the potential to stir imaginations and creativity.

I really like how it has glimmer to it,It looks like it has hugo themed and how it has reflection I really enjoy how the watch is the focus. I wish it had a mystery behind it like if you added red shiney nail polish to it and splatered it. so it made it like time murdered the person or something, it looks like it is really fake though and it 's like a joke because the message, " reading will pass the time." In a way it does, It looks like alice themed but not really. I really hoped this helped.

This is a stunning image! Firs thing that I felt when I saw this photograph was a warm happy sensation. The use of your lighting and, if this was edited, your editing work hard in hand to create this feeling. The way the book is open and the pocket watch is holding up some of the pages gives me the impression of some one checking the time and needing then to hurry off o do something leaving his book open for all that pass by. The blurring of this photo also works to you advantage making us focus on the pocket watch yet also shortly afterwards see where it is and what it's doing.
Again this is a splendid photograph and I commend you on a job well done! Sorry if this was confusing, it is my first time writing on of these. I hope it was helpful.

For me I feel that this picture is so rich and I love the subtlety of the words on the page. Look at that pocket watch though, everything on its face and cog gears is in absolute beautiful detail. It is glorious. I love the colour theme and how everything is a compliment to the main object, the watch. The blur is a nice effect and I like the shimmery orbs in the background, with a tiny bit on the chain were the gold caught the light. It makes me think of Christmas. I think I have seen a lot of photos of watches and clocks which is why I felt perhaps it isn't original as such, yet there is clearly a lot of thought put into trying to make this unique. Such as the colour scheme I mentioned and that he watch is on a book holding up one page. I also love the clarity of the Roman numerals on the face of the watch.

I like what you did with this. The brightness and contrast make you squint and convey the power and beauty of time. Wonder composition and I like the blurred pages that get written as time passes. Bright and alive in the moment and blurred and faded as time marches on. And the gold - indeed nothing is more valuable than time.

Wow! This is gorgeous! The colors just... jump out at me– pulls me in. It's like one of those movie scenes, where it's a flashback, and everything is pretty and there's a fireplace with a fire. The whole image just speaks of some sort of mystic and coziness.
