As such, it is dangerous to approach them in the wild, particularly if you are a man, as they will often said to appear to men near water, particularly during heavy rainstorms and in areas that are haunted, and are said to grab them and pull them into the water and drown them. However, when they do bond with someone, even if that person is male (which requires a high level of trust and friendship on their part), they are said to be extremely loyal and are said never to abandon them."
