That's completely true! I have a few watchers who would care about my artwork, but most of them are possibly from that free point dA thing-y majig.. I always love comments ^^

Oh my God YEEEESSSSSSS. Watches are worthless really. 10% of them are deactivated/abandoned accounts, and 50% of them are people who either don't even care about your updates or don't show their love when they happen. So I say, either a shitload of comments from random people or only a few dozen obviously loyal watchers.

Yes, I really agree! That's why I always try to comment on something that I like and fave it after I'm done commenting! I also like to try to point out something that I like about the piece that I'm commenting on, rather than just saying "woah, cool!" or "Nice!" Anyway, I totally love all of your stamps!!! Keep up the great work!!

yeah comments like ''cute'' ''I like it'' are better than watches.

Unless of course, someone watches you so they can continue to comment on more in the future.

I agree. I think people forget that we all come to DA for different reasons. I personally want feedback and helpful comments to help me get better as an artist. As great as a "fav and run" or a "I'll watch you but never ACTUALLY support you" are, I feel they're nothing in comparison to signing on and finding either an uplifting, positive comment (especally from a friend) or a helpful piece of constructive critasism. Alas the whole "Fav and run vs Comment and fav" war spoils DA a little, as it seems some people will go out of their way to fav and run if you said "Please comment as well as/instead of faving".

Good points, and very insightful. =]
To me, it's just a matter of human interaction. Honestly, I wouldn't even mind a negative comment. I'll still enjoy it on some level. xD

Thanks. I've been thinking about making a stamp to argue that we need to change this outlook, but the last time I made a "controversial" stamp, well, I still get the occasional idiots trying to goad me into some kind of a flame war :/
For me a negative comment is basically a troll/flame one, i.e. an insult towards me and the time, effort and hard work I invested into it. I may not be the world's best artist but I don't need nor want to be reminded.
