I LOVE the tiny whales! XD And those half-hidden beetleish things, and lol at that guy at the bottom... why is he staring at me? Excellent work!

tanks a bunch! I had this piece hanging in my house until recently, when we moved. Perelandra was definitely my favorite of the 3 books

Cool... it's been years, I saw :-D To be honest, I have yet to even finish That Hideous Strength. XD Perelandra was mind-blowing!

heh, I appreciate it. This was my 'breakthrough' piece. I kinda exploded with crazy little animals in defiance of the hard-edged realism taught to us here.

i am tickled by the idea of minature whales! and with wings no less... flying around in the air...

the composition is almost mythical, akin to adam naming the animals...

marvellous!

yeah, the theme was definitely along that bent. Perelandra was without a doubt the best book of the series.

bunsennbeaker [2004-02-05 07:24:04 +0000 UTC]

man, I'm loving the square framing to this... I was so fixated on the characters, and paint, and random blackbird trying to decorate us, before that I didn't really get around to mentioning the composition... which is really stunning. You got the colors... so right... particularly, I remember thinking, after the bread, after the heroic fish, how perfect the tones balance out... and looking at it now, after seeing you enough to recall your facial lines, wow... the face and hair... are so... sooo spectacular. The shading of the eyes with the yellow ... really is remarkable... Of course, it really does sort of suck for me to have seen the real one and know that the shot will never do it full justice. Please oh pretty please don't put this one anywhere it's at a high risk for theft, serious damage, or stupid janitorial discharging... this one ... should be kept and seen widely. And Jim Henson really does magical things to the mind, doesn't he... wait... did you tell me you hadn't seen labyrinth? Oh. BTW the colors are still insanely right. So impressed by this, very proud of it... and it wasn't so long ago you were doing 3 objects... really amazing progress, amazing work... um. yes, I really like this piece. Really love you.

Which planet does Perelandra take place on? I can't remember now. Such a neat series. I never finished the third book though.

Venus. Perelandra was definitely the best book of the three, though.

Yeah. I didn't much care for the frog-thing-murdery-guy on Mars. Was that the first or second book? The sentient beings on Mars were rather neat though. I'm gonna have to read the first two again when I finish Alice in Wonderland again.

You know, my fellow artist, that I can't take full credit. I, as well as all the others, am haunted by midnight train whistles, wind chimes, California woods, and muppets.

This one is the best. I adore the colors. It's such a relaxed, blissful piece. It just seems to take me back to my imaginary friends. I like your characters. They say so much in their own way.

It's more about them than me, and they have their own histories in Henson, Oz, etc.
